Simon Perkins' Lurgy - audio play set in 1974 Middlesbrough

A little heads up for anyone who enjoyed Simon Perkins' Lurgy... we have a new audio drama out in April, and available for pre-order now for download and 10" vinyl. It's called 'Fellfoul', and it's one for fans of 1980s fantasy and all things Tolkien-esque... it stars Aja Dodd as a woman...

Middlesbrough Council Approves Asset Sell Off To Avoid Bankruptcy

That's from a vox pop with a bloke in the street that was on Look North last night. It's almost word-for-word.

    Vermin Media

I'm on the most basic Virgin Media broadband and TV package as well, and they also tried to up my monthly bill to £94 a few months ago. I called them and told them I simply couldn't afford it and would have to leave (true) and they dropped it immediately to £65. A single phone conversation...

What opposition player did you always dread coming to the Riverside...

See also: Dean Saunders and Tony Cottee. Both of whom must have scored at least 50% of their career goals away at Boro. I'm sure Cottee scored twice at the Riverside when he was virtually pensionable. He was like the monster you think has been destroyed with half an hour of the horror film...

    This god damn weather

The summer holidays of 1985 were a complete wash-out. I stayed indoors playing Jet Set Willy every day.

    Favourite Kylie song

There are four consecutive singles from 1990-91 that I think make for a sensational run of form. Better The Devil You Know, Step Back In Time, What Do I Have To Do and then Shocked. Stunning pop music.

Boro move to Digital Ticketing 🎟️

Yep. My Mum has terrible arthritis in her fingers, so even if she could manage the tech aspect of a smartphone, I'm not sure she'd have the manual dexterity to operate such tiny icons.

Boro move to Digital Ticketing 🎟️

I don't think anyone's fighting it. I'm totally happy for that technology to exist for people who want to use it, and I appreciate that in a couple of decades that will be essentially everyone. But until then, I think it's important for other options to be available for people who aren't...

Boro move to Digital Ticketing 🎟️

Yeah, my Mum had never used the internet at all until 15 years ago, at which point she was already in her late sixties. I won't go into reams of family issues here, but she's got enough on her plate without having to keep on top of every digital advance just to exist as an ordinary person...

Boro move to Digital Ticketing 🎟️

I don't see it as a battle, really - I just wish there was more understanding, and that other options were kept open for those who haven't fully made the digital leap. I appreciate that in twenty or thirty years it'll be much less of an issue, but in the meantime there are still lots of people...
