The story isnt about the virus, it’s about the relationship between Ellie and Joel. A lot of emphasis will be in that story telling and character developingI haven't watched episode 2 yet, so no spoilers please (and haven't read the whole thread purposefully). But first impressions are that it is going to be a lot like The Walking Dead, 28 Days Later, Z-Nation, the Strain etc. Is it about to surprise me in some way? I mean how many times can the story of a virus collapsing society be done and not just rehash the same storylines?
Hmm, that has probably ruined it for me then . Almost nothing can live up to that kind of hype.People are describing Episode 3 as one of the best hours of television, ever, so pretty excited to watch it tonight.
There were zombie / apocalypse stories before walking dead, 28 days later etc and people still enjoyed them.I haven't watched episode 2 yet, so no spoilers please (and haven't read the whole thread purposefully). I know but I mean from a personal perspective I am unsure how 'into' this I want to get. I love 28 Days Later, and I loved TWD to begin with, but by about season 5 of TWD it just became a merry ground of the same things happening over and over again. I am sure there are some people who want to hear that story told 300 times over, but for me, given the time investment of a new series, I'd prefer to have some reassurance that it wasn't just a rehash. There were zombie / apocalypse stories before walking dead, 28 days later etc and people still enjoyed them.
There are only 2 last of us games and one story DLC to give more insight into Ellie's backstory, so Last of Us is constrained to that, the show is moving along at a good pace so no risk of first game being 3 seasons and second game being 3 seasons of tv show etc, it'll probably be 2, or 3 at most.I know but I mean from a personal perspective I am unsure how 'into' this I want to get. Your final sentence provides me with some reassurance of that, so thanks. I would much rather know it was like 3 seasons or whatever and that the writers knew the end game from the start. I'm pretty sure TWD's purpose was simply to generate maximum revenue at any cost, it jumped the shark multiple times and it was as if they were just seeing how long they could string it out for.
HBO tend to operate more artistically than AMC on that front, to my knowledge.
She does a brilliant job. Everyone does. Outstanding show. I hope too many people don't just dismiss it as "just another zombie thing", but I thinks it's quality will shine through. Some of the best TV in years.I'm totally onboard with Bella as Ellie now. Not really a spoiler but tagged it as from recent episode
