Britt Assombalonga

He’s good against the cannon fodder in the league crap against anyone half decent. Not his fault we paid 15M and at least unlike Ashley “there’s a player in there” (there isn’t) Fletcher he was generally available for games and not nursing a fractured finger nail.
It was a bit more than that - he was made Captain of the club FFS. Strange for a forward, I agree, but that would not have happened if he was as bad as some posters are making out.
He scored 47 goals for us in 112 starts, and I don’t recall any bad behaviour or slagging the club off from him. I wish him well - just hope that we don’t face him in the Play Offs.

I didn’t slag him off, but he was a huge waste of money ultimately.

Have a look at his stats against top 6 clubs any given season. Making him captain was some bizarre experiment by Warnock to try and up his game, it didn’t work. Did he strike you as a natural leader?

I’d love to face him in the playoffs as opposed to the likes of Pedro for Watford!

I know you weren’t slagging him off, but offering some perspective. I agree with you that we paid too much for him.
Some of the other posts on here are well off target imo.

I

I can't imagine bilic putting up with his half arsed attitude and petulance. Imagine him grinning after ballooning another pen bilic would have him by the throat
Would be very surprised if it’s Bilic signing the players, it hasn’t been that way for any of their other managers of late.

He really wasn't a good player. He was a tubby fraud without technique or football brain.
Part of the reason he's not liked is when the going got tough he never stood up and fought instead he hid . I would also say I can't remember a good word he said about the club or the fans in all the time he was here.

he isn't a great player and never worth 15m but he scored goals regularly for us. Crap attitude at times and shouldn't be anywhere near penalties but don't really get the hate for him.

He has
On a free it’s a great signing. He scores goals.
He has 28 league goals in 4 seasons where he has played 114 matches.
At his rate, even if he plays every match as striker, he will score 4 or 5 goals by the end of the season.
And will score them against Rotherham, Wigan, Blackpool and Huddersfield, in matches Watford would win anyway.

He's a pudding.

Would he get a hero's welcome if he came back playing for an opposing team?

Did he fire us to promotion?
Did he laugh and snigger after he nearly put a penalty in the river tees ?

I remember him for 1 of the above ...

Apart from him scoring 2 goals away to West Brom finished 4th
1 against Bristol city who finished 8th

There we other mid table team he scored that season despite being out of favour during 18/19

It didn’t work out like it was supposed to. The flat track bully statement doesn’t stick under scrutiny

Snap.

Firstly it means we're definitely in the Playoffs and secondly I'd rather face him than Pukki while we're at it. Plus that would make us a top 6 side which Typical Boro aside would mean that he's straight into "Couldn't score in a women's prison whilst carrying a kilo of pot" mode.

And if we do face him in the playoffs then the Boro faithful would for the first time return his cheery grin after such an eventuality with a matching one containing genuine warmth.
