McGree and Akpom

You could pick almost any 2 of our front 4 players to enthuse about today. They caused all sorts of trouble all day long. Forss and Akpom switched positions a few times which must keep defenses on their toes. McGree pops up all over the place too. Plus Arher looks like a real handful. Add in Crooks when plan A does not work.

Excellent performance all round today. We played some lovely football. McGree has had a lot of stick which I never understood. I always thought he would be good for us. Archer gives us another dimension with his pace running in behind. The front four were awesome. Some team is going to get a real pasting if they continue like that.

I thought it would be a really tough game today but we were clearly the better team and thoroughly deserved the win.

I actually thought Riley had a poorer game today, gave the ball away a few times, but he has set a high standard.

I love the balance in the formation.

Forss never leaves the wing except to get into the box/run in behind.

McGree comes inside/almost has a free role which creates the space for Giles.

Even better today with Archer looking in behind the right back early with McGree dropping deep.

Structure and fluidity - glorious!
I've said a couple times that Carricks most impressive influence is the ability to play in such a fluid way, with players interchanging and playing different roles and yet remain so solid defensively - that's not an easy thing to do.

Compare this to Wilders team, whilst it could be exciting to watch at times it was very rigid and symmetrical either side of the potch.

I really enjoyed watching us play today.

The front 4 were excellent today.
In fairness it was an excellent overall team display.

Archer, Akpom and Hackney the best players for me, all 3 were fabulous.

I don't rate McGree at all, but have to say he played very well today.

That was the best overall league team display since we played Forest off the pitch last but one Boxing Day.

I'm a McGree fan, but though he was mixed bag. Some great touches, but some poor final balls too.

This was captured in 1 first hal moment: a wonderful piece of skill to spin on the ball, followed by a disappointing through ball to Archer.

He'll put it all together on day soon.

I'd agree with that, a real mixed performance but thought he grew into it.
