Government threaten to intervene with Boro council

I think Andy Preston is very dodgy. I've put positive things on his twitter before but when I commented that stack (the container thing) should be round the corner next to hit the bar, he removed mine and other people's comments.

He also helps some projects like stack but did nothing for a local culturally important venture like base camp. Why is that? Anything to do with brown envelopes?

I think he has a lot to hide.

If he or his relatives had bought up parcels of land all over the local area they would make £££££ if developments were made on those parcels of land wouldn't they? Purely hypothetical, of course. That could never happen in real life.

Middlesbrough has never had anyone in these positions of authority who are not in it for themselves. MPs, Mayors, councillors.

So the best thing is for us to have someone in those positions who also wants the best for the town and will improve things for everyone alongside their dodgy self embellishing. It’s the best we can hope for.

Preston has presided over some decent investment in the town and some improvement of run down areas, whether that’s him or others who’re responsible he’s still been at the front claiming credit.

We’ve had such s**t leaders over the years any improvements to the town is fine by me after years of decline. I’d have him for another term.

I knew Peston was, to say the least, dodgy.
After reading through the article and others related to it, i see where you're coming from.

Absolute total nonsense, in the councils 50 year history not once, that's never!!!! Has the government threatened it with intervention. This is now twice in Preston's short 4 year term. Please do not drag good councillors, and I include councillors from all sides of the spectrum down to his self service level. This is Preston and his dodgy hopeless nodding dog executives doing, no one else.

The problem with councils and mps is anyone can put themselves forward to do it. It’s about time you had qualifications to make decisions about large sums of money and how it’s spent.

Like private education?
Top universities?
Previous work experience working for banking or other well known institutions?
Maybe law firms?

That’s working well for the tories in central government….

😡

Tories mismanagement is one of the biggest problems going. They should be certain qualifications for certain jobs

To be chancellor you should have some kind of financial background.

To be health secretary you should be medically qualified, and have practiced as a nurse/doctor

To be education secretary you should have been a teacher, preferably a head teacher

Personally I think private education should be banned
