Forss

Can’t fault his effort and application. Not easy playing out of position, and he’s got limitations as a winger but he’s adapting well and makes some decent runs between full back and centre back when the opposition play a higher line.

He looks like a genuine finisher. Gets a lot of power behind his shots.

If he can keep adding to his goals tally, it’ll give us a very potent attacking threat. Chuba, Forss and Crooks in the goals. Hopefully with Archer to add to that too!

I think the comparison with stuani is a good one as in the scoring goals and being a pretty ineffective”traditional” winger (especially when Adomah was kept out of the team for him). Some of our attacks break down with him (like they do with Jones) but if he keeps scoring goals and creating for others as a second striker rather than as a winger we can only trust in carricks opinion (see also crooks as the main striker, it shouldn’t work due to his lack of mobility and pace but invariably does!)

Still not a fan of him playing on the wing.

A great finish though.

Can't fault the goals and assists, but I'm not sure many of them are coming because of playing him out wide.
Maybe by playing him in an unfamiliar position on the wing , he is learning a new role , and , it is working , he has stepped up .

I don't see him as playing 'on the wing' as such, more a wide forward.

In a similar way to McGree not playing as a winger on the other side, he has a license to drift across the pitch when we have the ball.

The ability to add fluidity to several players positions is one of Carricks biggest plus for me - to be able to coach that into the team and yet still remain solid and organised shouldn't be underestimated.

Kind of like how Henry was made to play as a winger by Wenger, to improve his ball control in tight spaces, movement with and without the ball, before eventually being moved up front. And the rest was history.

Really like Forss. He's an excellent finisher and works his socks off for the team. Pleased for the lad as he must have been regretting coming here initially after Wilder dismissed him as a 'development striker'. Absolutely ridiculous.

My son's football team walked onto the pitch with the players yesterday and my son walked out with Forss. He said he was brilliant with him and was chatting to him from the tunnel onto the pitch 👏.

The new Stuani !
Great shout and comparison.
I'm glad he's been given his chances. Turning into an important player for us.

Hopefully if Hoppe doesn't get a loan move for the rest of the season he's given a few starting opportunities too or longer than 5 minute cameos and we could potentially have two superb "development" strikers 😎

What I like about Carrick is he’s finding a way to get goalscorers on the pitch. A front 4 of Forss, Akpom, McGree and Crooks screams out goals.

Crooks always chips in, Forss is a brilliant finisher, Akpom is the main man and top scorer in the league and McGree has the spectacular in him. Very clever from Carrick.

Then we have the likes of Archer and Watmore as options and I haven’t even mentioned Jones. All very positive.

Finished the match yesterday with three strikers on the pitch, Akpom, Archer and Watmore, when we were clinging on to a 1-0 lead 😅

I think I got a bit obsessed with Forss starting when Wilder was still here just because I wanted to prove him wrong! But he’s certainly done good and I think his work rate, pressing and finishing is exactly what we need with the way we play. I’d rather him be up front rather than the wide forward, but I think Carrick is trying to build a front 4 that can interlink and switch positions and be a bit more fluid. So pleased he’s getting amongst the goals.

With Jones form suffering, I think he felt he had to try something different. Swapping Forss and Crooks has proved a masterstroke so far. If we can get Archer up to speed, that will be a great addition too. Bravo Michael Carrick. He’s taking to this management lark like a duck to water!
