Post your little known musical factoids

This one comes under the 'allegedly' category! In the mid sixties The Bobby Fuller Four were recording what would become their future hit 'I Fought the Law'. However, the recording was a little problematic with the band not happy with the drum sound. While the band took a break from the session the young studio tech jumped in and recorded his own drum track, presented it to the band on their return and bingo, they were so happy with it they used it on the finished record. The name of the young studio tech? Non other than the Walrus of Love himself ...Barry White! 😲

We'll seeing as we're onto session musos before they were famous, the guitarist on Val Doonican's 'Walk Tall' was Jimmy Page. Similarly, Billy Joel can be heard playing piano on cult 60s mawkish tragi-hit 'The Leader Of The Pack'.

I was second to David Coverdale in a throwing a cricket ball competition at Saltburn Secondary Modern School.

He wasn't very good at playing cricket, but is a canny singer

There was actually 5 people in The Bobby Fuller Four

Everybody probably knows this but just on case anyone doesn't. At the beginning of Hot Chocolates massive hit song 'So you win again' if you listen carefully you will hear a single 'yap' sound. That was caused by a Yorkshire terrier that got into the studio and barked to be let out! It was only realised once the song had been made and heard back.
Another Hot Chocolate piece ... blues man Alexis Korner provided the spoken word in Brother Louie

Led Zeppelin were on route to appear at the newcastle mayfair October 1968 ... On route they stopped of and played an hour in Wingate Community Centre as a practice as they were showcasing material fro Zep 4 and wanted to sharpen up before the Mayfair... unannounced a crowd of local schoolkids were present
