Teesside Airport Railway Station

They have changed the train that calls there a number of times over the years.

I think I've told the story before, but there was a time during the noughties when its only stop was on a Saturday morning at about 11 or something. Boro were at home to Everton in an early kick-off so I was on the train that stopped at the airport. There were six people got on, and they weren't all in the same group. They all had luggage and looked like they had come from the airport. It probably never occurred to them that they were boarding the only train of the week.

Did you ask them how long they'd been there waiting for the train :)

I love these facts. There is a list on Wikipedia of the least used stations and Redcar British Steel and Teesside Airport are on it. Teesside airport is listed as the least used 2021-22 period. I think I read somewhere that the small church near Upleatham is the second smallest in the country, and Boulby Cliff is the highest cliff in the country.

It served 12 a few years ago. If the Mayor could get his **** in gear with a proper stop near the terminal and a few flights, he wouldn't be wasting multi millions. We all want long weekends but not possible from Teesside. Its Tuesday to Tuesday and only late announcements when everybody has already booked Leeds or Newcastle

It would be cheaper to move the terminal building closer to the station rather than the other way around.

I think there’s opportunities for it to serve the airport plus be a park and ride but that depends on the Darlington station extra platform project being completed to allow extra capacity on the rails.

You can't just "put a stop near the airport"

If they want to make it viable they should build loads of houses next to it.

Very few live near airports and let's be honest, it's close enough to Teesside. It would be difficult enough getting to a railway station to get a train to the airport for most.

Now buses on the other hand?

Integrated transport and reliable / regular connections between Teesside and the airport is essential.
Given the current airport fascilities and transport infrastructure: without using a taxi or a car - how would anyone get there from [for example]>>>>>>
Guisbro`
Saltburn
Wolviston
Middlesbrough
Stockton
Hartlepool
Darlington?

6 Buses a day!
None on Sundays!
Call that integrated transport?
Where`s the Tees Valley Mayor when you need him?

Never mind the train, why are there so few planes calling at the airport?
At risk of opening up a big can of worms… Isn’t the number of flights significantly improved since the takeover? (Admittedly the summer season is now over)

Not saying it perfect by any means, but seeing what’s happened to Doncaster Aiport makes me glad that at least something was done to stop Teesside being wound down by the previous owners

A 50% increase on next to nothing is still pretty low. I know that when I've looked for flights to meet my travel plans I haven't had a choice to use Teesside.

So this weekend is the same as my last trip, the awful Leeds Bradford airport

The Tees Valley Mayor will have no interest in it.

There's no spin in it, and no face time in it for him...so you wont see his pudgy grid in the Gazette claiming a great victory for the people.

How dare you disregard the flexbus service like this! 😜

Looks like Ben T. has got his hands on another £20 million of public money (ex. HS2 debacle) and is spunking it on this. On top of the £40 million he has already spunked on the airport itself.

Plans announced for new 'fit-for-purpose' railway station at Teesside Airport

Is this more corruption or an investment with prospects of returns?

Tees Valley Monitor are already saying they have an unverified report that the Corney's have got the contract. Shirley not

Only used to stop there twice a day before it closed. If I remember rightly.

Look at those bus times. 08:19 with the next bus 15:29.
