Palace and West Ham allegedly interested in Jones

Reports surfacing West Ham have joined palace with an interest in Jones. If believed the reports claim there is no chance in getting him in January but at the end of the season could be a different matter.

I know he hasn’t been on top form but still a very, very vital player to us.

Hope we can hang on to him, but 2 London Premier league clubs and us susceptible to any decent offer and Carrick would really need to sell to Jones the need for him to stay. Can’t really see this happening. Such a shame as there is undoubtedly more to come from Jones.

Too early for prem clubs to be in for him

Apparently these 2 clubs would tend to disagree. Young, English with bags of potential, exactly the sort of player Premier clubs would view as a medium term investment. So Newy, disagree with you.

Have these clubs actually watched him play this season?
His form back end of last season, and this season would suggest they haven't, or its just a lazy sport tabloid news story.
He couldn't complain if he was dropped on current form, however due to our lack of flare/attack minded players, our options are limited, so we persist and hope he regains some sort of form/confidence.

Not a chance either will sign him based on the last 8 months . Lazy or very old story.

The issue - is he going through a dip on a upward trend or is he just not Championship standard?

I tend to believe he is on a dip on a upward trend.

Another player that many will only appreciate after he's left.
I appreciated Tav, I think Jones is vastly over rated.

He has some excellent physical attributes, pace, balance and agility. But he lacks a football brain, constantly tries to cross the ball through players legs, when he does get a cross in it rarely beats the near post. Without possession he is a liability, goes to ground repeatedly and usually unsuccessfully. On the counter he doesn't seem to know where to run to create the space for others. He shows flashes, brilliant moments, but his consistency in decision making and execution is miles away from where it needs to be.

Have we got the time to let him develop into what he could be? Or do we need someone a bit more dependable right now?

He's our best player by a mile...
Goodness knows how you rate the rest of them...

He is from London. The non-league interview with him from the summer showed that he actually liked being based outside of London, away from distractions so we will have to wait and see whether he wants to go back or not.

The whole team is struggling this season, but he is still our best player and most saleable player by a long long way. None of the others come close. Even in games when the gazette rated him badly, I have seen him put in crosses that were quality.

I would be gutted if we sold him - I am talking about Bamford transfer level of disappointment.

We need 10 or so dependables!

He’s been showing a serious lack of a footballing brain recently. Needless fouls and yellow cards to the point of being suspended already. Some very poor decision making, eg trying to nutmeg players with a pass. I think one worked on Saturday but to no great outcome. A few attempts have definitely failed.

Don’t get me wrong… he was on fire last season, but when I say lack of footballing brain, if we were 1-0 up with 20 minutes to go I wouldn’t trust him to make mature footballing decisions to contribute to holding on.

I think EPL clubs will be willing to spend money on him on the basis that they can improve on his obvious raw talents.

He can be frustrating at times, but he's still our most creative player, even when he's not quite on full form.

He's always surrounded by 2 or 3 defenders.
Yet he's still out most creative player.
I don't know what people expect, waltze through 3 defenders and put in a pinpoint cross ? Get in the real world 👍

Has anybody suggested that’s what he should be doing?

If he’s surrounded by 2 or 3 defenders what would you like to see him do with the ball?
