Woodgate first team coach !!

Im sure Woodgate was a decent player for us, has a good pedigree, a lot of football experience as a player, plenty of experience as a coach etc and his time here wasn't what he wanted it to be but he did alright at Bournemouth and he still has a good name, he still has a decent pedigree and is well thought of that much is obvious due to the amount of Media work he's done.

Welcome back JW, here's hoping MC brings some more experienced heads with him but i trust in the club to appoint the right people.

Exactly. More jobs for the boys. I’ve never felt more disconnected from the club as I do right now.
Summed up my feelings completely. I've been fairly vocal in my view of Carrick but will give him the benefit of the doubt and a chance.

Woodgate just feels so parochial it's unbelievable. Are we seriously suggesting there was no one better for that position because that means one of three things for me. None of which are appealing.

Gibson's pick (over Scott) - Wrong. Do not bring in a HoF and not let them make decisions.
The system in place is so stifling that no one would agree to come - again, a worry
Our recruitment database of top quality coaches is lacking (or presumably someone accidentally deleted the spreadsheet)

Get off Woodgate’s back. Everyone saying “it’s important Carrick gets who he wants,” etc are now moaning because he’s picked Woodgate. You have to love it. They’ll never be satisfied, will they.

Good luck to Carrick, Woodgate and the rest of the staff.

I think it’s quite a stretch to believe that Carrick has chosen Woodgate. Feels much more like we’ve had to persuade him for three weeks to take Woodgate….

Woodgate better at comebacks than Johnson, mind you Woody only needed 1 vote.
As always at this time it is now our job to get fully behind the new coaching team and give them our total support. (This message was borrowed from the minutes of the ERG meeting this morning)

Only difference is l mean it!

If you believe that then I've got a bridge to sell you that's grown from a magic bean.

Did it really take 3 weeks to announce that one?

I seem to suspect that the Woodgate appointment was the hold up - I could imagine Bausor didn't want to have Woodgate back in the Club following his dismissal. If Carrick wanted Woodgate and the Club could not generate more managerial interest from a reputable individual, the Club may have given in.

So we (a club in a relegation fight) have appointed a manager who’s never managed a team before, with no control over recruitment and we’ve backed him up with another ex-player who himself had his own failed stint in charge?

We’re going up.
But on the other hand Scrug lets remember were an experienced manager & back room, who the majority on here said waz tbe best in the championship had us heading in one direction, down
