Who is not feeling it with Michael Carrick?

It just seems all of the ambition has gone.

As I posted yesterday, ambition looks like Marcelo Bielsa.

Carrick never comes across as an inspiring, vocal individual. He seems beige.

That is what he will be a beige appointment.
Marcelo Bielsa has been done, also he would knack most of our players!

How could any boro fan think let alone type that.

How can you hate your own club.
It's got nothing to do with hating the club.

I can see why Boro would be less appealing than it used to be.

Club has gone through a mixture of both inexperienced and older managers in a very short time.

Carrick would be about 10th on the list of managers we should be getting IMO.

He's inexperienced and he's previously been part of a managerial team who massively underachieved at a large club under pressure.

I just do not get the hype.

He may be young and new. But it's a humongous risk.

Are we really in a position to take such a massive risk on a rookie?

Some keep saying Aitor & Steve McClaren were rookies and are actually 2 of the most successful managers we've had in the last few decades. Whilst this is correct, they were coached under 2 unbelievable managers (arguably 2 of the greatest managers ever).

If it is Carrick, then I hope and pray we've got this right, because I can see a car crash heading our way.

He didn’t say that he said he should stay away as we are toxic

I could never type that.

If Carrick comes will Scott go? Carrick wants to be a manager, Scott wants a head coach. Carrick sounds like a Gibson appointment, Edwards the Scott recommendation. It's Gibson's choice and decision, hence Scott might feel his role has been compromised and not stick around if it's Carrick.

Pretty excited tbh - we need new innovative ideas and a clever brain - I'm sure MC will have that if he can bring his support along.
Needs a change of direction.
Plus he will be ambitious he’s not here to count down to his retirement ( like pullis warnock) he’ll be keen to show what he can do.

In think it’s exciting I honestly do. He’s worked with the best there is and he was one of the best players of his generation, similar to Robbo.

There will be players at the club who will have had posters of him on their wall as kids.

Completely underwhelmed.
I dont care if its Bill an Ben the flower Pot Men in that dugout - I just want the team to get out the bottom of the table, win a few games, convince fans its worth shelling out a few quid to watch the lads and take us up.
Is it too much to want someone to keep us in the top flight with entertaining exciting football on a good cup run - hopefully the FA Cup.
It wont bother me if they dress up in Scooby - Doo onesie`s on the touchline.
Club needs to stop flippin about and behave like grown ups.
10 points from the first three games and an eight-dart finish and I`m on their side.(y)

UTMB

Tentatively interested is probably the best way to describe it. It's not a route I would have gone down (I wouldn't have sacked Wilder personally) but we'll see how it goes.

I'm still not 100% convinced it's him given the reports last night suggesting he's weighing it up, seems leaving Man Utd when he did was an actual attempt to take a break from the game.

Re: the Spanish point above, must admit I'm guilty of that. Can't quite put my finger on it but there's something more attractive about a foreign manager, might be a perceived intelligence that I don't see in many English ex-players (although in Carrick's defence I'm not sure that can be levelled at him)?

The "inexperienced" argument doesn't wash with me.

There's obviously exceptions to the below like Woodgate, and i know there's a lot more arguments to what i'm saying, but.....

EXPERIENCED:

Pulis: Did ok one season, mainly because of traore. Disgusting to watch towards the end.
Warnock: Kept us up in those last 10 games, went quickly downhill after that.
Wilder: Did ok at first but form fell off a cliff at the start of the calendar year imo.

INEXPERIENCED:

Southgate:
Did ok for 2 seasons, probably made some poor transfer decisions but i think he would have took us back up.
Mclaren: Our most successful manager
Karanka: Most enjoyable 2 seasons in recent times. He was the one who got us promoted after so many failed.

All i'm trying to say is, i'm not buying into the whole "too inexperienced" stuff as it's been proved with recent managers it's not exactly the case.

I'm all for giving Carrick a chance personally.

I've had enough of the "experienced" ones coming in and stinking the place out to be quite honest.

Exactly it’s not gazza

Carrick was one of most gifted technical players England have had for years. He could read the game in a way few can.

How long did he work under Jose at Utd as a coach?

Was it even a year?

The majority of his time at Utd as a coach was under Ole who quite frankly is a terrible manager.
Karanka was only under Jose for 3 seasons anyway so he wasn’t this long career most think.

working as assistant manager at Real Madrid during José Mourinho's tenure as manager from 2010 to 2013

-

After retiring, Carrick became a coach at Manchester United and was given a position as part of the coaching staff with Kieran McKennaunder Jose Mourinho's management, after the departure of Rui Faria. He worked with Mourinho until the latter's departure on the 18 December 2018

Exactly he’s almost 70 how’s that ambition.
It,s not so much his age, Leeds have went that route and trying to emulate that.. I don’t see that as ambitious. Following in someone else’s footsteps. A bit like some of our signings tbh. Michael Carrick as manager is very much ambitious LVG, SAF, Pep, Mourinho would agree, I’ve seen someone saying he was available when we took on Chris Wilder! Simply not true.. he was managing Man Utd the same time as Chris Wilder managing Boro. Not sure how much more ambitious we can get to be honest!

Exactly I just don’t get it either.

We are in the bottom of the championship and we are about to bring in the Man U brains trust how isn’t that ambitious.
