Michael carrick into 6/1 second fav

Just a ropey manager.. Southgate rallied the troops and organised the comebacks. I got told McClaren bottled it
I can remember watching something at the time where Bill Beswick was having regular meetings with Southgate, Bates and Andrew Davies. It was all about leadership and winning at all costs.

It’s well known that the half time team talks against Basel and Steuea were done by Southgate and not McClaren.

I’m starting to think it won’t be Carrick. He’s still 4/7 to be the next manager, but if anything was imminent I think he’d be a lot shorter. The odds haven’t moved for a good day or so now, which indicates there isn’t a lot happening.

Well I've got my head around it now and I think it will be an interesting journey for rhe club...with some good experienced heads being brought in alongside our youth system and some of carricks gems up his sleeve..
I'll be happy if we stay up...now...after this season.....next season.... shall be an all out attempt on the summit.

It's "well known" in the same way as the Schwarzer clause and the Viduka insurance money are "well known".

However if true, then the question is why.

If it was because McClaren couldn't and Southgate had to "step in" then that's obviously an issue. However and what is more likely is if McClaren (correctly in this case) adjudged that the impact of the talk would be greater coming from Southgate at that stage, then that's a good leader.

Look at that Arsenal documentary, Arteta got the kit man to do a team talk, as he judged the impact it would have on that day would be greater than if he'd done it.
