Wilder sacked

Well, the players would probably run through brick walls for Leo, so it may not be all that bad. ;)
Well, while I was joking, he is an experienced coach and had been appointed a manager before the tragedy with his family so it's not as outlandish as it might sound. You can guarantee if results improve dramatically over next few weeks that Gibson will seriously consider it, he loves the idea of a rookie manager coming good. All his best appointments have been first time managers.

Rob Edwards would be an excellent appointment IMO.

I think he's a very very good up and coming manager.

That Watford sacking should take nothing away from him.

I was going to criticise Wilder on here yesterday, something I never do with a manager in post. So I guess it was in the back of my mind. Shame, potential seemed there last season but it’s not this.

Lot of new members appeared on this thread btw 🤔

Why shouldn't it? It was his first foray into the 2nd tier and he struggled. Do we want another manager cutting his teeth? I would rather we go for somebody with gravitas. Burnley did brilliantly to get Kompany and many poured scorn on that idea. We want fresh ideas and a new start and a name who can attract players to the North East the way Robbo did.

Get Edwards and I could see us in League 1 very quickly.

Just logged on here and saw the thread title I thought it was going to be a joke thread. I'm really quite shocked(although I don't know why as the results have been even more shocking). I had really high hopes when he came in, but something hasn't felt right for a while.
The next appointment is crucial and Gibbo needs to get it right first time, we are not in a position to mess about with experiments. We need a manager who can come in and get instant results, for me project Boro is not an option this job now needs someone who can boost the confidence of a struggling team and get the best out of a team who is lacking in certain areas.
Imagine Warnocks face and reaction when he hears this news!

I agree.

I'd actually like to see him given a chance. I know we've been down the road of bringing in rookie managers, but Leo lives and breathes this club, and I think the players respect him. If he gets results early on the club may give him until the World Cup before making a decision either way.
