Harry Brook

Think playing Topley also makes a big difference.

Also would like to see England mix the order up. Try someone else at 3 with maybe Malan opening like he did in the 100’s for a couple of games.

To think Roy & Bairstow of whom would walk into any side won't be playing at the T20 WC, and the likes of Duckett, Banton haven't made the cut just goes to show how much batting depth we have. Our XI should be:
Hales
Salt
Malan
Buttler
Brook
Livingstone
Stokes
Jordan
Rashid
Wood
Topley

Pakistan can beat anyone on their day, though also fall apart too, pace of Wood certainly did for their openers today..
Pakistan are Babar & Rizwan or bust. Middle order is toothless. A bunch of hacks that can't play express pace or short pitched bowling. However with Shaheen and Shadab back the bowling looks solid.

Batting wins you games, but bowling wins you tournaments so they say.

can't argue against any of that, I do think even the soft centre can play, they just need to turn up more often - talent is there just a little more focus.

4 more games in this searies & I'm sure a whole lot more debuts / game time for players of both sides- with Duckett missing from the party & reserve.. that must be some squad - TBF who would be left out, it is a strong squad.

Squad for T20 World Cup and T20I series against Australia:
Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Chris Woakes, and Mark Wood.

Travel Reserve: Tymal Mills, Liam Dawson, and Richard Gleeson

That's only one spinner, I would replace Livingstone with Moeen Ali in that selection. It's all about opinions though.

With Pakistan they either have textbook batsmen who don't bat quick enough or complete hacks with limited scoring zones. In t20s you need inventive batsmen that can find boundaries from good deliveries and score all around the ground. Can't see them getting very far in this world cup unfortunately.

England's LOI future is in good hands. Plenty of talent waiting in the wings. Having said that, bowling looks a bit iffy but I suppose they back themselves to consistently put up big scores.

Moeen's off spin bowling would be targeted big time down under. Besides, Livingstone bowls some handy leg spin and is about as clean a hitter as there is. One of the first names on the teamsheet for me

Livingstone has leg or off spin (as opposed to googlies) depending whether it is a right or left handed batsmen. Not sure you would want to say he has to bowl 4 overs every game, but as a change up when a partnership is going then he is very useful.

Ali seems to be concentrating on his batting at the moment as his bowling has gone right off - I guess because he has no real mystery ball.

Completely agree. I'd give Rashid, Topley and Wood 4 overs each, and split the remaining 8 between Stokes Livingston and Jordan depending on matchups. I'd say Livingstone's bowling is probably as effective if not better than moeen's atm given moeen's bowling form, and Livingstone is definitely the better striker of a ball. This will be moeen's last tournament
