Where is your favourite place in Middlesbrough?

As I'm sure I've mentioned this is one of my favourite places on Earth, but don't come down the way you've gone up. Drop down vertically (in a sense) from the nab and you'll hit a well managed walkway which goes to the SS Castle (Mine Ventilation Point Fan House) if you turn right then walk back along the same path to where you've left your car avoiding bikes/motorbikes around the elephant's a*se shale banks. Keep your eyes open for interesting sights.
Wish I'd bothered to read the rest of the the thread before replying, as I've just typed pretty much exactly the same message!!

A third path takes you away from the nab towards guisborough and loops you round to the right once you get to the backside of the hills, taking you through abandoned orchards and back to the top of Pig Bank.

I used to love a walk round there, with the ponds in the Spring, the lair of the legendary "Toadfrognewtman".

If you want a longer walk, continue heading away from the nab towards Wilton. You'll head down into the woods and past the secret SS Castle. From there you can head back to Flatts Lane along the middle of the hills using the old train line path to the Elephant's **** and back.
I regularly do that. It was to hard to explain to somebody who hasn’t been before. I prefer to turn right at the nab and go towards the cross keys then along behing wood gates house back to flats lane.

Not strictly Middlesbrough but I’ve just got back from ingleby incline. The views are fantastic up there. Popped in to great ayton chippy (which is the best in the area)
I was on the opposite side of the valley yesterday, ran from Clay Bank car park down to the forestry track towards the Incline then sharp right up on to Urra moor, 👍🏃‍♂️😉🏃‍♀️
