Frack off

Phileus Mogg today saying that the govt will only frack in areas where the locals agree to it ( yes right) so let’s send a message that we don’t want it here.

Fracking: Jacob Rees-Mogg faces Tory anger over plan to buy local support https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-62993487

Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng who told the Daily Mail earlier this year: "Even if we lifted the fracking moratorium tomorrow, it would take up to a decade to extract sufficient volumes - and it would come at a high cost for communities and our precious countryside."

Personally have no problem with fracking per se, but it's never going to work in this country. Too densely populated and unless the government give these companies by right to planning permission (which they won't) then each well will get clogged up in the arcane planning system.

I see Mogg has been using modern terms like Luddite in his pathetic case for this crazy plan.

Strange turn of events. In that his wife’s family home received £7.5 grant for various improvements.
The house and estate is near Rotherham…in a twist of irony suffered heavily from subsidence due to coal
mining.
But seems there was a way out…isn’t there always.

I think they approved licenses for areas years ago. If I remember rightly they were granted licenses to mine in South Bank and Grangetown as well as other places. Someone on here will be able to correct me if I have that wrong. Also don't know whether those licenses would be still in force.

Natural Gas is partly soluable in water, if people obtain their water supply from the ground (same rock structures as the fracking/mini explosions, it will likely contain natural gas. In some parts of the USA the water bubbles with NG, so becomes undrinkable and poisonious. There are examples of people putting a match to their tap water and it lighting up. See one below.

In the UK we have much higher population densities than the USA, so the problems of mixing people and fracking are much higher.

Whilst this is true in a few isolated cases, methane can occur naturally in water tables and natural gas migration can also be the cause of this.....
