PLAYERS WALKING ONTO PITCH PRAYING šŸ™

Each to their own, God's not for me but if someone who believes wants to cross themselves, crack on!
Same thoughts. Bizarre thing to get annoyed about. Some may even not be overly religious and may use whatever they are doing as a superstition type of thing.

Ultimately who cares?

Itā€™s all just fashion, they are like sheep and if somebody comes up with something different they will copy that too. Kissing the badge, socks pulled up above the knee, snoods, you name it ,they will copy it.

Religious beliefs being dismissed, but if the taking of the knee is ridiculed, all hell breaks loose?? Why are there double standards??
What double standards are you talking about? I think the only person dismissing religious beliefs here is the OP (and a couple of other simpletons)

It's not like the start of the game is being delayed, or the match has to be stopped to incorporate a players religious beliefs. They do what they have to do while cracking on with the game. Go for it, if it gives you a sense of comfort, belief, peace whatever.

Well the OP has certainly been given the attention and bites he probably craved.
For the record, if anyone does anything that suits them, is lawful, peaceful and does no harm to anyone, then good luck to them. Too many people have an opinion on others lives, I often wonder how theyā€™d take to others taking a close look at their own lifestyle and behaviours, I suspect their response would be something classy, along the lines of ā€˜Wtf has it got to do with you, wāš“ļøā€˜

It's a snippet for the cameras and like someone above mentioned a bit of a trend. Like Muhammad Ali some players are converts, which may have an effect.
Johann Cruyff was the famous Atheist player.
His quote: Iā€™m not religious. In Spain all 22 players make the sign of the cross before they enter the pitch. If it works all matches must therefore end in a draw.

It is a bit daft if they are asking for help to win a football match, but it's harmlessly daft. The whole concept of praying is daft because things can be trivial but they are also competitive. Does the team with the most people praying win, are there competing Gods trying to influence the result? Do other people pray before doing a good spreadsheet or scanning a trolley load through a till? Praying is one of those things where if you try to apply logic to it then it all falls down. Bruce Almighty gave a good view of what it would be like if praying worked where everyone won the lottery but that means they all got Ā£1 each so people were even more unhappy.

I'm long past caring what other people believe. I used to be very anti-religion but as long as what they are doing is in good faith, doesn't hurt other people, doesn't try to force people to comply with their way etc then live and let live. It provides a lot of comfort for some people. Some people need the extra support and there's nothing wrong with that. I hate seeing people exploited and I think religious organisations can do that but I'd rather we just improve things so that doesn't happen than eradicating religion. I think we're in a sweet spot in our country where religion no longer really affects the vast majority of things we do but is there for people to be openly religious still. I don't think being intolerant of religion as a country would be a good idea, or the opposite, being intolerant of not complying to a specific religion.

its not doing any harm to anyone, I suspect most players aren't devoutly religious but it doesnt matter. To me all religions are a human construct to repress the masses but we live in a free society and people can express their belief in anything they want even the Jedi force.

At least 8billion in assets the church of england own, enough to wipe out all lot of poverty in this country.

That's only Ā£119 per person with the UK's population of 67 million, and it would be a one off.

The annual income of the Church of England is Ā£1bn, which would be Ā£15 each.
Their expenditure is around Ā£1bn.

Nowhere near enough to wipe out poverty in the UK.

"OP, did you question Proc, Johnston, Hendrie blessing themselves or is this a recent thing?
I'm more tolerant of Christians as we are a Christian country but it's still a load of sh1t3"

Racist much?
