Get Larson

Gutted by reports that he's off to Celta Vigo. With Larson and Muniz we would terrify opponents in this league, but with Muniz trying to do it on his own he can be isolated. I feel we just won't score heavily enough with McGree buzzing around as a poor man's playmaker or with any of the other strikers. We need that threat and I hope last night rammed it home. Goals get promotion. Stop sitting on that Tav/Spence money and dropping 2 or 3 mil here and there on bang average players. England is still a Mecca for Scandinavian players and Larsen full on wanted to come. PLEASE, go get the job done, Gibbo!

Given Wilder's comments last night I don't think we will be bringing any other strikers in. If we do it looks unlikely to be Larsen, Riis or Gyokeres unless he was playing a major bluff.

McGree is as good as a man short - definitely not the answer to getting us goals or even creating them - we need another goal getter alongside Muniz who looks the biz

Totally disagree, Yes at times Mcgree has not been great, neither have others, Riley is probably the most composed player in the team on the ball and a lot of our good player in games has come from his involvement, I believe his passing intelligence isn't being used due to the lack of mobility and ability of players around him, I'm a big Howson fan but last night showed against a very quick and mobile side he is not good enough on the ball, and that role in the team is pivotal to controlling the tempo of the game.

However apart from maybe 35 minutes in the game where Watford really put the pressure on I thought Boro played well and could of knicked it to with Clarkes header, blocks on the line etc we also had 7/8 corners where we must to better IMO, a draw was a fair result and pedro and sarr will not be there after tomorrow evening, too really good players!

Every shot he’s had this season bar one has ended up in row Z - he’s a squad player imo, not a first choice

There's no mobility in front of him because he's in the wrong position. There should be a striker in his position. Without it he has one target up front for all of the defenders to mark. Muniz is good but he's going to be shut down easily if he's left on his own. No.10 play maker is someone who gets the ball in an advanced position, plays the final ball or runs at defenders to create space. He's not good at any of those things. He needs time and space that he gets playing in midfield with options in front of him. There is not a cat in hell's chance that he is a number 10. He's front of a midfield 3 at best with either 2 strikers ahead of him or 1 striker and 2 wide forwards.

He's nowhere near good enough to warrant a change in formation to accommodate him. He should be back-up to Mowatt on the left side of the midfield 3 and that is it.

What was his comment

Asked about strikers after Watford, Wilder added: “Yeah [still want a striker], because if you look at the players we’ve got, Chuba is out for another five weeks which is really disappointing. We’ve signed a couple of younger lads from a development point of view but can get a little bit more from Forss with his experience and the money we’ve paid for him. But he’s still a young lad. And Rodrigo [Muniz] is a young boy as well.

"So we’d still like a bit more experience and a bit more know-how. The reason we’ve gone deep in is we believe something good will pop up. We’ve been aggressive in our approach and ambitious in trying to, but when nothing becomes available… If it doesn’t then we’ll go with what we’ve got.”

It's not just him. Crooks is just as likely to sky it as hit the target. Watmore more so. We'd be ranting about the Jones miss if he'd been onside. We've brought in all these strikers but so many of our chances are falling to last year's players and they're missing them.

Wilder has said he would like an experienced striker in so probably rules out Larsen and Surridge. Last minute loan from a prem beckons I think.

Who's more experienced than a certain Diego Costa?
(Taps Heinz Sauce bottle on side of nose while winking, smirking and crossing fingers behind my back)
