Political ideology aside, Kier Starmer comes across as a really genuine bloke.

I have watched him being interviewed and questioned live on air, by the public on LBC, I think. His twitter post this morning about Grenfel seemed to be very honest and from the heart. I know that it is common for politicians to try and say the right thing and sound genuine whilst doing it. It helps if the electorate like them.

I don't remember the last politician that I found resonated with me as another human being rather than a politician. I hope I am not alone in this.

I was a big follower of Jeremy Corbyn and will always believe that he was the first genuine chance we had in a generation or more to bring real change the lives of the vast majority of this country.

I’m left leaning and consider myself a socialist. Despite the attempts of a number of left wing idiots in the party trying to portray Starmer as some sort of Tory, I voted for him in the leadership contest and I’m glad he won.

He represents the best possible chance of winning power back for Labour and I believe and trust every word he says. He’s everything Johnson isn’t and I think more and more people are starting to see that.

Im sure Starmer is the real deal and looks and sounds as if he has more statesmanlike qualities in his little finger than the moron flailing on the opposite side of the despatch box....even so there are plenty of the far left of the labour party that have not much time for his approach.
I love the way he dismatles Bozo

Keelo you used the word statesman like. I don't really like that phrase as it suggests that there is a persona more suited to governing. However, the calm, no fluster approach he has to being interviewed and PMQ, I know exactly what you mean.

He's definitely had a good start.

Having said that, you could put Charles Ingram opposite Boris Johnson and he would appear to be the most honest

360, I wasn't so much comparing Starmer to Johnson. I was referring to the way I percieve him, independent of party or comparison really.

Great start but he’s up against it.
Huge majority in parliament which will increase with boundary changes (another 30 seats I think).
The Tories are brilliant at getting their messages across and Labour have a lot of catching up to do.

His relationship with the rich and powerful, who drive the media agenda, will be key.

Sadly Starmer will have to wait 4 years+ to try and persuade the electorate he and his party offer a better choice than the Conservatives and their leader at that time (that won’t be Boris). The world will be unrecognisable by then and the real concern is just how badly the current administration will have allowed things to have got by then. If their performance in the first six months of government is anything to go by ( irrespective of the horrific challenges they have faced) any new Government in 2024 is likely to be facing a broken Britain deep in recession with high levels of poverty and greater disparity between the rich and the poor. By then I will be living in a much warmer place and casting my vote for Labour from afar but my children will still be exposed to and no doubt still suffering from 5 years of Conservative government.

He is in their pocket and wont cause them any problems.
Thats 1000 less leaflets required in his constituency.........

My mate is a blue wall Tory and thinks the Tories are hopeless with their messaging, he has said this for years. Certainly during this pandemic the Tory communication has been desperately poor. Funny how everybody has a different view, isn’t it?

Hope you're right - interested to see his international stance.

Their messaging took them to a whopping majority and delivered Brexit.
Messaging during Covid has been of a similar vein (lies, spin and schoite). Not working this time maybe because people can benchmark our performance with other nations and are going - you what?

You may be right with that comment Finny. It is much easier to make comparisons with a pandemic, than say economies. I have just been impressed with how sincere Starmer seems.

Sincerity is tricky in politics.
He will make mistakes but will be light years ahead of this bunch on the sincerity scale.
Don’t forget the great British public turned a blind eye to sincerity.
They have a real choice this time though

Hopefully the timing may be ok for KS to take only 1 election to get into power.
Assuming a vaccine in the middle of next year, right in the middle of no deal brexit recession.
Then it will take six months to set up Covid public inquiry, maybe another one about lack of trade deals with other
countries. Two years later Public Inquiries will report. This could be in the run up to the General Election
Starmer v Sunak fingers crossed

Sometimes enough people like the message though rather than the message being particularly well delivered. I think this was the case with Brexit. It was a big majority but Johnson was tapping into 17 million exit votes, Labour sounded like they were trying to manipulate a remain (having said they would exit in 2017). It was an open goal. Despite that, 55% did not vote Tory, the scale of the victory was in the voting system, it has been overplayed by the Tory media.

I'm prepared to give him a chance but he hasn't impressed me so far. He declared himself a Zionist, concealed the fact he'd received £50,000 from Trevor Chinn and has done nothing about the leaked Labour report. He has a long way to go to get my vote.

Ive no doubt the Tory cult is working overtime to get stuff on Starmer. It’s one of the problems Labour have, their leaders have to be absolutely perfect whereas the Tories can put any old public school clown up for election and they will often get voted in. Which is ok to a point but it means the country has to suffer long periods of government incompetence, I mean just look at the state of Boris Johnson’s premiership, how long is it going to take us to recover from this shambles?

Who are you referring to BBG? Kier Starmer? Have you links to these things? I would be very interested in reading them.
