Keir Starmer demands ban on raising energy prices

Starmer = Establishment insurance policy. He's dog ***** bad.
The working man and woman, via the unions, are driving the agenda now and he and his light blue colleagues can't keep up. They stand for nothing and are absolutely impotent.
Hopefully we're not far from a new left of centre worker's party being created, one that's unsullied by the LP fifth columnists. In the space of two years they could really change the political landscape. Change could be closer than people think. We shall see.

About time.
What I don't get is the recognition of the knock-on effects, if bills are allowed to increase to the levels suggested, the economy as a whole will suffer as people can't spend money elsewhere.
You'd think the 'pro-business' Tories would get this.

Good to see him finally coming off the fence and saying something of value. However, as others have said, he’s chasing those driving the conversation and agenda now, namely the working class, Unions, charities and Gordon Brown.
It‘s good that he’s seemingly finally going to take a position, but it would be nice if he could take the lead, steer the conversation and work more closely with those his party supposedly represents, rather than following behind them waving his hand in the air shouting ‘yes yes! I was going to say that too!‘
One step at a time I suppose, and can only be a good thing if this is successful.

With views like this….it’s precisely why the Tories have been in power for 12 years ruining this country

I think you’ll find that most people with views like mine, would never vote Tory and would always vote Labour, or at least vote tactically for the party that has the best chance of ousting a Tory in their local area.
Expecting more more from a Labour leader is not the reason the Tories have been in power for 12 years and it’s ridiculous to suggest that.
To be completely clear, I’m somewhere between Corbyn and Starmer politically, but would vote for both of them.
Anyway, didn’t mean for this to become a discussion about the pros and cons of Starmer.
I was trying to be positive because it pleases me that he has actually come off the fence, but I appreciate that my cynicism towards him completely clouded that point.

Exactly this is you look at the price increase over a year it's about the cost of a family holiday abroad. It's going to have a massive knock on effect

I think a good idea would to give everyone a certain amount of kWh per day at 2021 prices and leave the rest to follow the usual rate. Should be affordable for people whilst encouraging people to cut their demand for power/gas.

Yep and allowing such a huge rise when inflation is already out of control is going to help the country how exactly?

Thank god Gordon Brown had the courage to speak out this week. This wouldn’t have happened without his intervention IMO.

Yep, that’s the hugely frustrating thing. It seems Labour are currently being reactive rather than proactive, and it’s not Tory incompetence, corruption etc that they are reacting to, but pressure heaped on them to do something, from places such as Gordon Brown, Unions, charities, public desperation etc.

Isn’t that what was tried with these collapsed fly-by-night companies and so the rest of us have now had their customers‘ savings loaded on our bills ?
