I only listened on the radio, but I don't mind last nights result, in the grand scheme of things it will help. As much as I enjoyed last years cup run, it certainly cost us in the league, it can't not do when we already have to play 46 games and we didn't have much depth in high intensity positions.
Different this year too, as we have even less depth at the minute, but probably a stronger first 11, and will end up with an even stronger one.
I don't count it as a loss for the first team either, basically as next to none of them played. The ones who did play sounded poor, so it may end up as a kick up the **** for them.
Good run out for the kids, and some others and just shows have far most of them still have to go, and which may mute some of the calls for the kids and others to be getting game time. I often read this, based on people seeing clips from the youth teams/ under 23's etc, which is a million miles from a team trying to get out of the Championship, League 1 is miles behind that also.
Move on, there's a game 1000 times more important on Sunday, then a 2 day break, then another game 1000 times more important, then a two day break, then another game 1000 times more important etc.
The only time we should be bothering with the cups is when we're in a safe position in the prem, where the games carry little risk, and we may actually be able to win them.
