I owe Chuba an apology.

Watmore the new whipping boy. I’d be interested to read that thread that was started when talk of him leaving first emerged.

You’ll find me welcoming it. He runs around but doesn’t do much else, which seems to be a recurring theme with our strikers.

Watmore is a great impact player, as many people quoted, coming off the bench with his burst of pace can change a game, but he struggles if he starts games.
I wouldn't mind him been on the subs bench, however if we get another 2 strikers in, as Wilder speaks about, then he will be moved on..

Watmore could change a game if he created something, or scored a goal. I could see how you would say that could work.

Sadly the reality is that he doesn't change the game because all he does is run around chasing defenders playing it around at the back. He doesn't score because his finishing is terrible. He doesn't create because the other forwards have been almost as bad as he is, and he never plays the right pass.

That Crooks goal at Old Trafford summed Watmore up completely. He failed to control the pass to him so badly that it hit his hand (inadvertently) and then his attempted chip over the goalie was so poor that it sliced into the path of Crooks.

He's part of the problem, not part of the solution.

I think there is always a tendency to select information to suit your own narrative.
Playing top level championship is tough (granted last night was a different game), and if you are not 100% fit 100% of the time, then any player will struggle. I feel for the lad. Good pro, likeable character, doesnt moan when things dont go his way etc.

I think back to last season when he was december player of the month and scored 2 against Huddersfield. Probably when he was a bit fitter and getting consistency in the team.

Let all agree that he isnt s***, gash or anything of the kind. Maybe he is not at the level he needs to be for us though, and that cant be a slight on the lad. It just is what it is.

Watmore terrible, again.

Why Wilder started picking him consistently from the back end of last season is baffling.
This is something which I don't understand.

Many of us were calling for Watmore to start more games last season but Wilder seemed reluctant to start him.

I think it's fair to say many of us have accepted now that he's better utilised coming off the bench yet Wilder is now choosing to start him.

Forss and Akpom need minutes so surely it would have made more sense to have given them both 60/70 minutes last night.
