There is talk on various platforms about civil disobedience..............

I love the way @Jedi boro claims i have an ego and yet two people specifically commented onthis thread just to insult me and ignore the OP.

Hardly surprising is it? Given the amount some people are obsessed with me.

As Eleanor Roosevelt once said. "Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, mediocre minds discuss people" I guess we just have to put up withthose mediocre minds who'd rather insult me than actually discuss the topic. It's a shame. We should be better than. Some aren't.
I think you confuse obsessed with think your a c@ck.

A general strike bringing the country to its knees might be the only effective and legal way to force change. If anything the new PM is going to be withdrawing support for those hit hardest so not sure what other option we have at this stage
So who goes on strike in a general strike? Which sectors?

If there is any civil disobedience I hope it's not like 2011. A bunch of chavs setting fire to and nicking things from their own areas. Go to Kensington and Chelsea not F***ing Tottenham and wood green.

It's coming mate. Wether people believe it or not.
Think of those who are absolutely desperate for food and heating come the winter. Government need to sort this out quick sharpish. Every man and woman has
a breaking point.
That's the tragic thing about the Randy's, the Nlbbys, the Zorros of this board isn't it? Randy actually seems to agree with me on this one but all of them have taken time out of discussing the topic just to have a pile on of me. Such pathetic, bullying and cowardly behaviour. It's actually a shameful way for grown men to act. Tragic

I agree that change needs to come and as I said people have a breaking point.

Smashing up Currys and nicking a Dyson Cool Purifier and a 75" telly won't achieve anything other than a criminal record and a few nice cool nights watching the latest Netflix exclusive whilst waiting for a court date.

Again, which sectors go on strike?

You care about the people here so much you decided the leave the country.....genius 👍
Experiencing other cultures allowed and is allowing me to grow out of that “Little Englander” mindset. Otherwise it’s natural to develop a mentality in which your (my) way of doing things must be the absolute way. I used to be a right selfish b****d. Now I understand that other people’s success is not my failure and we’re (most of us) in it together. I’d wager you’ve not travelled extensively.

No. Which is why I corrected nobbu when he incorrectly said direct protest was looting

There are an awful lot of people on here confusing civil disobedience with rioting and looting.

Civil disobedience:- "the refusal to obey the demands or commands of a government or occupying power, without resorting to violence or active measures of opposition; its usual purpose is to force concessions from the government or occupying power."

There is nothing wrong with advocating civil disobedience.

As for bullying all I said was ( no names were mentioned either)

“Well I blame the ones that voted these cretins in.

Hopefully you’ll think twice next time.”
And I stand by that

I could do with a new TV, you're giving me ideas here 😗

Again no name calling going on.

Remember that this guy doesn’t get personal.
I'm not sure what this has to do with civil disobedience?

Oh that's right. You're so pretty and puerile youd rather derail s thread to pile in to someone who upsets you than you would discuss the issue. Not my thing, I'm above such pathetic behaviour but you do you boo

Agree with this. People are conflating it with looting. It's not that at all

It wouldn't just bring down the Tory government, it would bring down the whole democratic process in this country....

If you don't like something then riot?

Should we riot at the Riverside tonight if we get beat, perhaps they would just let us through to the next round ?
Don’t ask me to put whiskey on your cornflakes anymore Nobby - it’s not happening 😵‍💫

Again, which sectors go on strike?
It'll probably need to be organised to cause maximum disruption and have maximum effect wouldn't it? Hopefully people from all sectors. Apparently the only people that work in this country are nuclear safety officers. So maybe them!

This isn’t accurate. This original coiner of the term (Thoreau) used civil to describe the links between civilian population and civil servants (government) and not as a description of the action (as in civility). He did advocate for subcategories of civil disobedience to distinguish between non-violent and violent actions.

Who pays the bills of those who go on strike?
Who arrests the bad guys if the police are on strike? The army? Ooo martial law would be entertaining wouldn't it? Mind the country had a warm up for martial law with covid lockdowns didn't it so it wouldn't be that much of a surprise, clap for the balaclava clad militia.

That's the point of a strike mate. You cause disruption to industry, you make it clear you're not going to take it anymore. That's why we should strike and all support it
