There is talk on various platforms about civil disobedience..............

Apologies. It's three people derailing the thread just to have a go at me. I'm popular today with the small minded aren't I!

And yes, i have said it. You've chosen to ignore it becasue it doesn't fit in with your attack. So, not only are you petty and small enough to want to attack a random stranger on the Internet. You're also poor enough to lie in order to do it. You just need to be better than you are
You should be thankful for small mercies, we must be the only 3 left that don't have you on ignore by the sounds of it 🤣

I`m not entirely sure that we could force a Government to be replaced, I think we the people are democratic at it`s core, well most anyway

I`d be willing to wait for a democratic way of removing the current Government but many won`t have that luxury come April next year when energy prices will likely top 450 a month, inflation will have risen again and also interest rates as well as every other thing that raises the cost of living

I agree the democratic thing to do is wait but in the mean time we can take to the streets, peacefully, on mass and try to change the ideology of the current government. If that fails then more than likely the gloves come off

Sick of reading about the poor energy companies and how it's not their fault with their tiny margins but quite frankly it is bull ****. Centrica own British Ga. They were split into two separate companies for this very reason, to protect Centrica's massive profits. In reality, Centrica could sell their supply to British Gas at cost instead of at Wholesale prices. They all could. They choose to supply at Wholesale because they make massive profits from it. We wouldn't have to bail out suppliers if these companies were combined. We could just keep the price cap where it was last year and let the producer part of the business cover the losses from the supplier.

These companies are all protected. All measures to help people are within a framework of maintaining a status quo for the companies. Money to people? NO, money to Suppliers who will reduce our bill. Businesses go bust? Pass the cost of that onto customers of other companies. There is absolutely zero need for an energy supplier market. They do nothing except add massive costs as middlemen. These are our natural resources and we just allow these megacorps to own them and charge us an over-inflated premium for them.

We certainly can. Enough of us are struggling. Enough to make a difference. We simply can't afford to sit down and say "oh well, what can we do?"

Yes it could do. As my link lsoted above shows
I can't believe posters are even thinking about this. Our society is a democracy where people vote for what they want, in this case a Tory government. Just because you don't like the way things are going you can't just decide to riot and oust a government. Do you think if another party came in energy bills would miraculously reduce....
Incredible 🥴

champagne socialist - a person who espouses socialist ideals while enjoying a wealthy and luxurious lifestyle....

Plenty of them on here 🤣
Nailed it.
On a separate note though mass riots will probably bring in UBI. Exactly what the governments of the world are aiming for behind closed doors.

The majority of those who voted did NOT vote for them.

I can't belive some of us are meekly accepting a torrent of corruption that is going to leave people starving, cold or homeless. But there you go. Takes all sorts. I guess I'll put you down as one of those meek, cap doffing individuals allowing "our betters" to control you. Luckily we only need 3.5% of the country to rise up so even with cowards like you we can effect change

What do you mean by "Rise Up" and who should do this?
Should Engineers and technicians who run Nuclear Power stations, Water Treatment Works and other important "stuff" just drop their tools and stuff the consequences,
Or only workers who's jobs are meaningless and wouldn't be missed anyway?

I noticed a pattern on this board from people who are supposedly outraged at the government but say there's nothing we can do, basically protests won't work and keep paying your extortionate bills. It makes me wonder whether some of there people are that outraged or maybe they've got enough money in the bank that the cost of living crisis isn't really gonna affect them.

Something needs to change and either the government do it or the people will force a change.
People who on the one hand believe that something must be done are at the same time preparing the ground for declaring that the protests will be lead by bored youth* who are only there for the looting. This of course is nonsense. Any protests (if they happen) will be initiated by groups who have expertise and a record for organising this kind of thing. Yes, there will be law breaking because loud protesting is now illegal in this country. We sleepwalked into that one.
There will also be rioting and looting, perpetrated by people using the situation as cover for doing just such things, but the organising and timing of the initial protests will not be carried out by looters.

*Bored youth = people who have had what their parents and grandparents took for granted - like libraries and youth clubs etc - taken away from them through reduced funding from central government under the name of austerity.
Austerity = charging the poor for the profligacy of the rich.

Everyone. It's time for national unity. All workers are being done over by this government. We are all losing out. So yes, cowards like Nobby can sneer and coff behind sarcastic comments but we are approaching the time we need to act.

Meanwhile, back on planet earth 🌍

Would you be up for leading the fmttm uprising SmallTory ?
You could be a bit like John Connor in The Terminator I'm guessing 👍
We could all chant 'I voted Tory, but I didn't vote for Johnson' that would certainly learn them 👍
