What did you want to be

... when you were a kid? Rather unhelpfully for the OP, I didn't have a clue, other than being a singer in a band, preferably The Beatles. To the extent I can still sing perfect harmony to any of their songs, but at 59 and with 2 of them long dead, I somehow doubt the phone is going to ring now.

Other than that, I'd no idea and am still waiting to grow up.

And you...?

I wanted to be Mick McNeil who played for the Boro and England. He was related to my Dad and I thought he was mega famous.
The best answer I ever heard to that was many years ago from my then 4 Yr old nephew Josh. He told me he either wanted to be a Brain surgeon or a man who goes down the sewers wearing big yellow wellies.

Play for Boro, open the bowling for Yorkshire, be a train driver, be a pop star. Still believing.
One day...

As a trainspotter til I was about 12 (1960) and Boro fan, I wanted to be a (steam) train driver or centre forward for Boro (or in summer Freddie Trueman). What else was there? I could never understand how other kids knew more of the 'real' world outside school. I remember some kids saying they wanted to be a solicitor or a journalist or whatever and thinking how do they know that? Obviously my class / life experience was different to theirs - my dad a furnace bricklayer at Dormans in Grangetown and mam sewing in a sweatshop somewhere
