Chris Wilder I have complete confidence in him.

disappointing start but when I looked at fixtures kind a thought we might only have a point or two after the first 4 games, Shef Utd will also be a tough one next week, but weirdly not too worried still think we will do well and be around the top 3 once we get going !

we could put McNair in there or even dijksteel as a temporary option until we sign preferably two strong midfielders

Dijksteel isn’t going in there, I’m sure. He had a dig in the post match interview, basically calling him a bit of a fanny in regards to failing to tackle Willock before the first goal. Said something like ‘no wonder the lad has only had one yellow card in two seasons!’

McNair was terrible in midfield when he played their last season. He doesn't have the pace or energy we are crying out for. And he's no more creative than McGree.

I was watching bits of the Norwich game earlier and the comms said last time they got promoted (with 97 points) they only won 1 of the first 4 or something.

He's great at receiving the ball in tight spaces on the half turn and he has a real eye for a through ball. He's also got a change of pace and can drift past a player.

I think he could yet develop his off the ball skills but for me you can't have him and Crooks in the same 3 man midfield unless you maybe had a prime Boateng playing between them.

Crooks would be ahead of Mcgree at the moment for goal threat and height at set peices.
That's an excellent assessment of mcgree he's lacks the physicality to compete in central midfield. Unfortunately tavs departure has scuppered the midfield balance. However even if tav was still here I think we still needed another quality player. Crooks form can be up and down and howson can't be expected to play 46 games. To me now we need two quality midfielders with energy and steel otherwise we will get steam rollered by dross like Sunderland and Preston every week

Yes but it's the best of a bad option at least he doesn't jog back with no defensive responsibility

Slightly harsh. Watched interviews today with about 5-6 PL managers and they were all saying how difficult it was to sign players during this window - I mean Eddie Howe was one, and if they can't get the players they want.....?? 😳😳

The situation at present is not ideal (to put it mildly) but at least today highlights the desperate need for 2xCM, 2xCF, LCB and an attacking/No. 10 MF who can link midfield and attack.
So why did we let Tav leave. He was our player and should have stayed until we had a replacement or we should have kept Payero. He's no less of a defensive liability than Mcgree (who I like).
You have to earn the right to play away from home, you cant just turn up at decent teams and expect to play open attacking football from the off. We've seen it in a number of games, today, Preston, Sheff United etc. We are not good enough to turn up at these teams and try to play them off the park from the kick off, it's not realistic.

You can't keep someone who wants to leave, it's no good for either party. We had to let tav go and although I thought payero has a lot more to give as he develops, right now, is he better than mcgree?

Like loads of clubs we just need the transfer market to get going.

Dijksteel has been very poor in a number of away games. He's less assured going forward away from home and as soon as he doesn't commit 100% we are in trouble.
My back 3 for away games would be Fry, Lenihan, Mcnair. Or Lenihan. Fry, Mcnair.

Im not saying he's better, he's an option, if which we have very few. Tav had 2 years on his contract, he was our player to keep, I don't give a f* *k what players want or think. His wages get (got) paid by mfc so he should do what he's told, happy or not. I don't think it was in Tavs nature not to give 100%.
If we are just gonna toss games off with the excuse the transfer window is open then I'd like those games taken off the price of my season ticket.

I agree to an extent in that in the heat of battle tav would give everything, but there's a lot of waiting around chatting with his mates, potentially about how we are holding him back. The modern boro need to be focused on developing talent and selling on for ££££ssss.

Holding talented players back scuppers the plan. There is loads of room for us to be a top half prem club if we get the recruitment and sales right.

It's not getting rid of tav that's the problem it's not having a replacement. We need a replacement for tav and a second player as cover for howson

Manager made an @rse of last sub. When McNair came on him, and Crooks started to link up with Jones and cause them big problems. He brought Smith on and moved McNair and Crooks and we never caused a threat on right after that. Jones was isolated and Smith hardly crossed the half way line.

We were done on the right side after that.

I can’t argue with the fact that our football is better under Wilder, but we need Wilder to be better at team selection.

It’s clear that Wilder wants his sort of players in the side. I mean you just have to look at what happened today when Crooks has to play CF!! Many of us were probably thinking well if you could stick with Uche for the time being maybe we could have grabbed something out of nothing today but instead CW has his own way.

Forss seems lightweight to me and especially in a division where teams like QPR can be very physical I can only see him being a sub especially on away turf.

Two games in and it’s a case of trying to fill in the holes from two or maybe four seasons ago. It’s very frustrating but the football and finesse side of the game seems to be a lot better and a lot to look forward to.

The theme is McGree, Howson and Crooks doesn’t work. I’m sorry, it just doesn’t.
Lets be honest in Tav we have sold our best player.

Our best defender Fry is not fit.

The keeper looked good last week. He is no soapy Joe.

I’d rather play this way and lose one and win one. Rather going for a 0-0 nick an away point.

We are all out attack and I love it.

Fair point. I give you that one.
