Positives

Only our fans could see a sending off of one one of our players as a positive. It’s never a positive. Lenihan is a very good player and will prove that, it’s been a tough start admittedly but Christ let’s get of his back. He’s playing alongside 2 lads in a 3 man defence who are natural fullbacks in a new team with a new goalkeeper behind them. We need time to gel.

Positives?
That game is finished so I won't have to endure any more of it.
I can pretend it didn't happen.
I have a fridge full of beer.

Akpom should have started — wrong message from CW. I’m looking for positives but losing like we did today I can only see negatives surrounding the team, the manager and his coaches. Everything was bad today.

it's the lack of protection from a really soft midfield which is going to cost us week after week. I would have crooks and mcgree competing for the same wide midfield spot but we need a combative midfielder to partner howson

Howson is having to do too much of the donkey work now Tav has gone. I like both Mcree and Crooks, but not sure either is suited to a 3 man midfield (with wing backs) I’m sure Wilder sees it and will bring in the right person for the number 8 role. The Leicester lad looks full of energy and tackling so could add what’s missing.

For the record, I would rather Fry was alongside Lenihan. Some height needed at the back. And he will set some clear expectations for WB/MF who are going AWOL to often.

I'm sure Lenihan will come good but Fry ought to be one of the first names on that teamsheet imo.

Wilders tried without him and to coin a phrase, we can't defend for toffee.

How big is Fry compared to Bola?

For me, and I haven't seen Bola played centre back, Fry was too easily bullied. McNair weak on his left side.

The midfield grafter has gone and needs replacing

Maybe the sending off will force the manager to pick the best defence and the coburn injury might be fate working in our favour so he doesn’t go out on loan .

Fry is about 6ft 4. He’s much, much taller than Bola in fairness

I think Lenihan is a very good footballer for a defender but his lack of presence does seem a worry. Seems like he would be better suited to that RCB role but then that’s Dijksteel, McNair and Lenihan all competing for 1 position.

Wilder was the problem this game .

picked the 2 totally wrong centre backs and worse than that…..actually put them in the starting 11 !

very strange decision 😫
Agree that CW has a lot to figure out.
Totally bossed, weak from the off and dreadful defensively.
McNair, Fry and Akpom should all have started.
Dijksteel disappointed.
Lenihan overrated and error-prone.
Watmore the chaser ineffective.
Tav has not been replaced.
Rant over.

To be honest I found the decision to sign Lenihan a strange one at the time.

Fry was excellent for us last season, so for me it would have made more sense to have kept either Bamba or Peltier as back-up for Fry and focus all our attention on signing a LCB.

It's early days so hopefully Lenihan will come good, and if Wilders' long-term plan is for Fry and Lenihan to compete for the CB position then fair enough, but it's a worry that we've started the season and we all seem to have different opinions as to who should be playing in each centre-back role.

I couldn't understand starting Watmore rather than Chuba?

Akpom has looked up for it when played and it's not as if Duncan has been smashing it. Very odd.

He said it's because of Akpom's lack of conditioning right now.

Which is a fair enough reason, but obviously that lack of conditioning is partly Wilder's fault.

Think Wilder said after that he isn’t fit enough to start but he has been very impressed with him, I think he will be starting before long.
