Strachan

I'd totally forgot Leroy Lita ever played for Boro. Wish Strachan was just as forgettable.
He only every got 2 things right in his time here, signing Barry Robson and walking out without a pay off.

Bggr. That means he's down to Robson. No doubt someone will be along in a minute to tell me it was the tea lady who actually signed him.šŸ¤”

No, BiggEggo I think that you have identified the one positive impact that Strachan had in his woeful time here.

WGS was a disastrous appointment, both in terms of recruitment and results.

I also didn't like his manner either - I know he was exceptionally difficult with journalists and I actually recall he reduced dawn Thewlis (TTTV) to tears.

On balance he does have a decent reputation in some quarters, but I didn't see that when he was here.

Barry Robson was an excellent signing, at the end of his contract we ofered him a new one but he was offeted the chance to play in Cansda, take his family out there & start a new life, shame it didnt work out & he came back to the UK within 12 months I think it was

Scorer of some belters & a rarity of scoring two penalties in the same match, which he did v QPR at home, in a 2-0 win, which secured our 1st ever double over QPR

I recall him being a very good player for Leeds, terrible manager for us. Unnecessarily rude, I remember thinking at the time that his abrasive nature did nothing for the club. Similar to Warnock, apart from him being a much better manager, even with him I just thought; give it a rest mate ffs

Oh dear, it looks like Gibbo wasnt even aware of the deal that Robfmttm and AlextKid cut with Strachan. He's going to be furious when he finds out.šŸ¤£

By a clear distance, the worst manager we've ever had. And we've had some stinkers.

He was beyond clueless.

It suits both parties to have the narrative that Strachan left without having his contract paid up. Makes Strachan look magnanimous and honourable, and makes it seem slightly less of a mistake by Gibson in appointing him. Iā€™m guessing it was something like ā€œif I offer you such an amount as a one off payment, can we tear up your contract?ā€.
