Commonwealth Games Birmingham

Nice, there on Saturday for Boxing and Beach Volleyball.

I've missed most of the action so far but was blown away by the 3 x 3 finals last night. What a sport! England beating the Aussies to gold with an audacious 2-pointer was excellent too.

Incredible game of netball tonight. Atmosphere in the NEC Arena was electric and it visibly lifted the Roses to beat NZ convincingly. Australia up next in the semi final.
Who lost to Jamaica in the group phase today.

For those not into the netball: NZ and Australia losing on the same day is as shocking as then both losing on the same day in rugby. They are the best two teams in the world. Oz have by far the strongest league.

@Cardiffdaffs was Osuro-Brown playing? She's my fave

Yes Eboni was in the squad. They rotate them all so she got court time. The key players for me in the Roses team are Housby obviously who makes us tick, the new star goal shooter Eleanor Cardwell which is great as Jo Harten isn’t quite 100% fit but our key player for me in defence is Geva Mentor Who has been superb.

The Roses and indeed the Jamaican team are reaping the rewards of having players who star in the SSN ( Suncorp Super Netball) League in Australia. Housby and Harten play there and Eleanor Cardwell has just been snapped up be Adelaide Thunderbirds having played as the top GS in the English Super League with Manchester.

Jamaica have stars - Jhaniele Fowler is a beast at GS and is a top SSN player with WCF. Kadie-Ann Dehaney, Shamera Sterling, Jodi-Ann Ward and Latanya Wilson are also top players in the SSN so their defeat of Australia yesterday morning came as no great surprise to me. In fact I'd put money on Jamaica winning it. As for the Silver Ferns we weren't shocked by the defeat to the Roses. They came over here last year and beat us in a 3 game series so we knew we were up against it. We have also lost our stars at GS and GA in Ekanasio and Folau to retirement last year and they were pivotal in the World Championship win 3 years ago.

England v Australia - can't call it but with Australian Centre Hadley out Eng have a great chance

Jamaica v NZ - Jamaica comfortably sadly
