.

I couldn't think of anything I'd want to watch less than 2 Tories attempting to tear each other to shreds.
When Truss gets in, which she will regardless of being unsuitable to being an MP never mind PM, we'll see a whole new level of awfulness.

He talks a lot, that’s for sure.

Private education for you, makes you polished and shiny.
Most of what he was saying was to counter the crap coming out of Truss mouth. She can peddle 3 words of tosh, but it takes 20 words to explain why it's tosh, and then he's got to do his own bit.

I'm not really bothered that he went to private school, at least it looks like he's learned something. Comprehensive's still offer a good education, Truss still went to Oxford and apparently was trained as an accountant, which seems like it's been ***ed up the wall.

It's strange, to me Sunak seems like one of the few competent Tories, but Truss just seems like a bad plastic Tory or a very bad LD, who decided to switch sides. After the last 5 years I suppose I'm more scared of incompetence, than their supposed policies/ budget. Incompetence on any side is going to be extremely damaging either way.

However, I can see Truss winning, and Sunak going back to chancellor.

I don't think either of these will beat Starmer though, no matter who wins, and hopefully the next 2.5 years goes by quickly.

I think you will. NZ still watches on in bemused horror.

Sorry. Have to disagree with most of that.

I only watched (and listened on the radio) for about 20 minutes and it all got too much, but Sunak lied about NHS funding and also brought up the "Credit Card Debt" argument.

He either knows he's telling lies or he's economically incompetent (and I'm not saying Truss is any better but he was Chancellor, ffs).

The two studio guests had a real opportunity to set the record straight and chose not to. The country is absolutely screwed.

In the interests of political fairness, here's Starmer having his **** handed to him in Liverpool:
I think he was just dumbing things down a little (with regards tot the deficit), which I can kind of understand, as most of the public won't understand anyway.

They all fudge the numbers about funding public services, but as we know, there are may ways to lie using statistics, or bending numbers to suit your argument. They're still both Tories, so either way those services are getting cut, in real terms. Or if they keep one funded in line with inflation they'll shout it from the roof top, but then cut another three which they won't talk about.

The guests were terrible.

Mmmmmmm, I’m watching out for Luxon here, I just can’t warm to him for some reason. There is something about the night about him.

Don’t mind Chris Bishop or Nicola WIllis

Who were the guests?

Luxon is a smarmy besuited salesman and wouldn’t trust him an inch. Mike Hosking likes him which makes it worse. Thing is I feel the country is looking for somebody as far removed from Jacinda as is possible and Luxon fits the bill.

Did you see Luxon was caught out lying yesterday by tweeting he was Te Puke when he was actually sunning himself in Hawaii? Prat.

Didn't take too long for an anti-Starmer post to crop up on a thread discussing Sunak and Truss... :ROFLMAO:

That woman won't be voting Tory anyway so I'm not sure what the issue is. Some people who loved Corbyn will never like Starmer. So what.

Yes it’s going to be a very close election next year. I’ve heard people say that Jacinda is the devil, she is just evil, and don’t know who to vote for.

Be interesting to see how the coalition rights party lets cause mayhem go.

The RWNJs who call her evil just make me sick to the stomach.

I had edited my post above, to include a bit about what she was saying, but probably wasn't right to edit that, so I'll put it here:

I don't read much into comments like what the woman on the video was saying. People like her are one of the main reason Labour loses, they live in an impossible dreamworld, detached from reality (well, our reality, based on the makeup of our voters). She'd rather labour have a dream playbook, and not win. It's like boro setting our tactics as we're only going to shoot from the half way line. Looks great when you score a screamer, but you'll never win a game.
Nearly all the media is **** (and Hillsborough was >30 years ago), but if they're not in them, doing interviews or whatever, saying their bit, then they miss a lot of voters out (which they unfortunately need). KS has to distance himself from Corbyn, as he needs to detach from those massive losses. A lot of Labour's policies/ manifesto will overall be not much different under KS than JC, but there has to be some difference as it will be decade on and a hell of a lot has happened. Corbyn lost an election against a poor May, after the Tories had been in power for 7 years of crap, and then got battered by the worst PM's we've had (in my lifetime), it would be unwise to try and carry on that torch.

You should be bothered that yet another entitled rich boy with a private school and PPE at Oxford background is one of the leading 2 candidates to be the next leader of our country.

Private schools are elitist and perpetuate the myth that the brightest and most capable come from the higher echelons of society.
I know plenty of people who have been to private school (a lot of them don't vote Tory), they're privileged (less so back then, more so now), but it doesn't make them incompetent, and it doesn't make them bad either. They might have zero clue of how it is for the most worse off, but it's irrelevant anyway if they're Tory, as the party does not give a toss about those least well off. This is why it's insane when you get some of the least well off voting for them.

You can believe that myth (most capable come from the higher echelons of society) if you like, a lot of people do, but I don't, which is why I don't care, and care less when it comes to a leader of a party of I'll be voting against regardless.

I'd rather we didn't have private schools, but there would still end up being a massive difference in schooling, depending on where the school was. The schools I went to were poor performing, but that didn't seem much like the schools fault, it was more the number of rogues who they had to try and control.

They are not fudging the numbers for public services, they are lying. More funding for the nhs than ever before.... Nope much less funding for the nhs than ever before and more than ever before to external companies providing, traditional, NHS services.

It's a lie many of the public are falling for.

Aye, probably/ possibly, that bit didn't have my full concentration, and not sure what they've said in the passed either. They've not kept funding up with inflation, but neither would, they're both on the blue side. If you value the NHS it's Labour every time, it's that simple.

Why would a Tory care about the NHS when they all have private healthcare. Yup, private won't cover won't cover everything, but it will cover most things and £££ will sort out the rest.

It's not that funding hasnt kept up with inflation Andy, its that it has gone down in absolute and real terms. A huge proportion of the "NHS" funding goes to private companies. This isn't funding the NHS it's funding the private healthcare sector.

That's why I say it isn't fudging numbers, it's lying. It is a straight out lie.

Fantastic from Ritchie and I got 4/1 👍
Kerching 🤑 Now to win the next election...
You do realise that you can still get 3/1 for Sunak now and that’s despite it being a two horse race. Hardly bet of the century.

If you’re that convinced he’ll win you should lump on him again. 3/1 in a two horse race is much better value than 4/1 when you didn’t even now who all the runners and riders would be.

It's genuinely scary when you look at how much they've underfunded it compared to historically. The money is there as well; it's an ideolgical choice not to properly fund it.
