Middlesbrough want at least three new front-men before the summer window shuts this year, Football League World has been told, with enquires being made for Sam Gallagher and Antoine Semenyo.

Boro picked up nicely last season once Chris Wilder had taken over from Neil Warnock, and they looked like genuine playoff contenders.

Indeed, they took the battle for the top six right down to the wire but ultimately fell short, giving Wilder plenty to think about in terms of where he would like to add to his squad this window.

It’s in the attacking third that he sees room for improvement, too, with this site being told he wants to add up to another three attacking players before the deadline later this summer, as Boro bid to challenge for promotion.

Among the names they’re currently looking at are Sam Gallagher and Antoine Semenyo, with Boro making enquiries over the availability of both.

Clearly, Wilder wants to add Championship experience to his front line and good physical attributes, with both strikers possessing such traits.

Wilder will feel he can get a good tune out of them, too, and in the case of Semenyo with his particular potential that could be an exciting signing.

Gallagher is a typical Boro non-scoring forward, who works hard and puts himself about but rarely scores, as with many Boro targets in the last 10 years didn't he score against us last time out?!

In both the matches last season, yes.

The one at the Riverside was a good goal, I seem to remember.

My mate is a Blackburn fan. He says Gallagher is dreadful. Was banging on about how bad he was before the last match so I knew he'd score. They're probably going to lose Brereton Diaz so not sure they'd be letting their only other option go, even if he is rubbish.

All getting a bit late in the day when you consider that forwards were clearly our highest priority for at least 7 months now.

Can't see either being likely targets.

Gallagher is awful and Semenyo is injured and would cost a few quid.

Riis from Preston or Stewart from the mackems would be better options if Wilder is wanting a target man/closing down type of forward (not breaking the bank ie £10m+).

Gallagher is awful. Just seems another we've been linked with for years. I'd expect him in a Warnock side. I'm not convinced he's a Wilder player?

It looks like we are down to option D and E😂. I also take a few of these with a pinch of salt. Everyone knows we need 2 CFs. So just get thrown in with every name available.

I'd rather have the Brentford lad ahead of these two.

Agree. Gallagher (goal per 281 mins in 21/22) and Semenyo (goal per 266 mins in 21/22) are both okay...

But they're definitely plan B signings after trying for Gyökeres, Forss, Armstrong, Muniz (if rumours are to be believed).
Semenyo is more so a creator though. He got 12 assists, only bettered by Harry Wilson and Jon Swift. He also played most of the season out wide rather than through the middle which impacted his goals tally.

He would be a superb signing. Carries the ball really well, runs in behind, strong and will only get better
