Hartlepool manager Paul Hartley has signed a third player from the Scottish Leagues with a 4th to follow soon.
We've seen it all before at Boro with Gordon Strachan haven't we ?
I hope this doesn't all end up in 😭

Sensible move. He knows the Scottish market having just moved from there. Not like Strachen who was just looking after players like Miller from his old teams. I was told by an Aberdeen fan that Miller was about to leave for half of what Strachen offered and bought him for.

We have seen the standard of the Scottish leagues, I agree.

Andy Robertson, John McGinn, David Marshall, Charlie Adam, James McArthur, Robert Snodgrass, Kieran Tierney, Charlie Mulgrew, Billy Gilmour, Steven Armstrong, Grant Hanley, Alan McGregor, John Fleck, Ryan Fraser, Ryan Christie et al have all had terrible careers in England. And don’t get me started on Bannan, McTominay, Fletcher, Phillips, Dorrams, Liam Cooper, Hutton, Naismith, etc.

It’s best to avoid Scotland at all costs IMO. Unless you have a competent scouting team and know what you’re doing, of course.

I guess the only positive is that they ain't going to be on 20-25k a week and stuck on big contacts😂

Also probably not going to buy someone like Thomson who had never been fit lol.

Jokes aside managers sign what they know. You see French managers buying French etc. You'd think league 2 is less of a risk.

I'll give you Andy Robertson the rest are average, Villa are now looking to offload McGinn.
Plenty of Championship players in that list yet they won 'everything' in Scotland....

I thought the lesson from Strachan's transfers was do not try and move the core of your team from one league and country to another and expect them to hit the ground running.

The lesson from Strachan was avoid Strachan at all costs. I see he’s had a hand in getting Dundee relegated now.

I think Strachan's signings were more to do with the clubs he was signing them from..
