National Rail Strike

I was in Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Piccadilly today. Was surprised by the lack of workers on the picket line given the way the media were going on this morning.

Walked past what looked like two TV cameras and a suited bloke waiting to be interviewed in Picadilly, would’ve stopped to watch but had to catch my bus back home!

We are not French, honestly you can not give into strikes in my opinion, if you do everyone will be at it
But we can accept that huge corporations can pay virtually zero tax, and shareholders can demand ever increasing profits at the expense of the workers on whose shoulders they stand whilst flouting the rule of law and parading their obscene wealth?

F*ck that

No we are not. One is a society where working class values matter, are defended and supported which leads to a more just and equitable realignment of wealth. The other is a proto facist sh*thole where the rights of just not workers, but anyone who doesn't directly influence government or own the means of production, are routinely trashed with value taken out of the economy to fuel the myth of a society where "work pays".

Can you tell which is which?

What does 'We are not French" mean to you?

If you're referring to the public support for strikers then that's exactly what is happening here.

And the comment above still stands, understand what they're about.

Petty utterances shouldn't be tolerated without being backed up by reason.

I think you should get your short term memory checked.

Possibly the most hypocritical message ever on here.

The French have a backbone. That's maybe why their Government capped their energy price rise at 4% where we chose 52%. Your apathy towards industrial action and seeming preparedness to take it up the rear by Boris Johnson (like many others in this country) is the reason we are in this mess.

Without the right to strike and someone having the bollox to do it we'd still have the workhouse.
This particular situation is Govt driven. I suspect Boris sees himself as a Thatcher type figure and this has been engineered to deflect from the utter mess we're in and disgusting Tory deceit and lies.
And it'll work.
I feel sorry for the rail workers and commuters who are the victims in this.
It could go on for months and months.

Like those pesky French Lorry drivers and farmers who went on strike when the price of fuel rose so high in March?

forcing the government to step in and drive a reduction in fuel taxation within 48 hours?

stikes like that you mean?

I wont say this often, but in cases like this, you have to admire the French ( and that feels dirty in my mouth) they get to a point where they wont take any more shiat from their government, and are willing to do something about it.

Vive la France.
