Club Statement on Pitch Invaders

I am not an apologist, but let's get it into perceptive, banning a child for life that's way over the top. His dad's a Berk, so he gets what he deserves.

I can remember going to a game that was stopped all the time for fans sat beside the pitch. At the end over 10,000,fancy banning that lot for life.
The kid hasn’t been banned for life, just the dad.

Without trolling right through this post to see if it's already been mentioned, I would ban players posing with these kids and also stop them from giving their shirts to kids with begging boards.

I agree with your first one but not the second. Handing out shirts to “begging kids” in the crowd neither disrupts play and does not involve incursions into the field of play either.

Anyone on here at Doncaster in 1987 ?
Or Oxford in 1967.

Perfect grounds, perfect pitch, Perfectly behaved fans, 4 referees, scripted songs, 433 442 diamond shape, moans about queuing, perfect decisions, it's the way it's gone. No spontaneity it's no different to the Bolshoi.

I was talking to someone who was in the same block sat on the front row. They said the kid was an idiot and should be banned.. but the stewards did nothing. He said when the kid ran back, the dad grabbed him and moved him to the inside. He also said there was no abuse or threats aimed to the stewards.

I’ve seen a few posts saying the dad had been bragging on Facebook and he’d told the kid to go on the pitch and recorded it?!?

Kid most certainly should not have been on the pitch during play.
We do not know at what point the father was said to be abusive do we? He may have been confronted immediately or in the concourse.
Whatever, surely it is hard to find any sympathy for such actions.
It’s not hard to find sympathy for a fan being banned for life. If he’s done something in the concourse then fair enough.

But I hear the kid hasn’t been banned?!?!

That can only be if the dad has told him to do it on video.. and the ban would make more sense.

So abuse to mfc staff incurs a lifetime ban? That mean booing conolly too?
Not sure if you're trolling or just being deliberately obtuse. The two things are not even remotely comparable and I think you probably know that.

I agree in the first instance. No one should be on the pitch and there should be consequences for anyone that does venture onto the playing surface. If the lifetime ban is based purely on that, then i have sympathy for the Dad because i think it's hugely excessive. I also have personal experience of how aggressive stewards at the club can be sometimes. That is in no way an excuse for anything that might or might not have happened afterwards but it's not always a one way street in these circumstances.

If the lifetime ban is for reasons over and above the pitch incursion, then fair enough.

Was there a pitch invasion during that game , or was it because the club allowed young fans to sit on the perimeter track as there was over 40000 in the ground ? The only incursions on the pitch was after the game when the wall in the North Stand collapsed.

I am 100% behind the club on this.

The club also needs to launch an investigation on the standard of Stewarding relating to preventing and/or controlling pitch incursions. The last few "events" have been shambolic in all aspects.

But also remember all those kids on the pitch are supposed to be in the care of an adult.
