There's a study in Spain at the moment to see if supplementation improves outcomes .... though I think they are testing and supplementing with people who are already sick.

My mrs was saying her nhs trust is now offering vitamin d supplements to bame workers.
That's excellent. All workers should be offered it ... or at least tested and offered vit D if deficient. Many health workers will have had very little chance to get sun and/or eat healthily.
