He'll survive this unfortunately.
As much as the polls put Labour in the lead and you hear the public indignation at the antics, when it comes to actually voting I think you'll find many will revert to being shy Tories.
Sunak is too clever to go for the leadership right now as is Gove. You're left with Truss and the rest who'd make things worse without commanding any of the blind loyalty that Johnson seems to engender with his his bluster.
There's local elections coming up in May. That's when reality will hit and you may be right but this doesn't appear to be a flash in the pan to me.

He will be kept in position to soak up any bad news resulting from enquiries into the pandemic / Brexit etc. Then he will be culled before the next election, giving the new leader of the party clean hands after the Boris toxicity.

As to whom will be in the running Sunak / Hunt / Gove

I reckon they'll do what they did after they got rid of The Thatch, find the least toxic alternative, which at the moment is probably Truss, but already proved she's not gaffe proof!

I expect he'll survive, though I hope he doesn't.

There'll be too many Tory MPs willing to overlook the incompetence and constant scandals.

This snippet as an aside caught my eye. If the patronage wasn’t already at the bottom it’s about to sink under the sewer.

Depends what else comes out, if he can be implicated personally and how successfully parties can lobby in the background.

It’s out of his hands though.

Boris seems to be utterly devoid of shame and others will decide if he goes and when.

There are known to be 20 letters already that have been sent in to the committee claiming no confidence. Only another 34 to go! 😎
