I think so, but unfortunately the relegated teams - whoever they are will be quite strong. You know, looking ahead I wouldn't be disappointed if we fail to get promoted this season such is the headstart the rest of the teams above us have had, like Fulham, Bournemouth etc.
If we are in the championship next season and we keep this squad together with some other additions it could be a brilliant season to watch.
Will they though? You can see Norwich been ripped to pieces and starting again from scratch. Burnley? More than likely to go down again, once they lose Ben Mee and Tawkowski. Watford? Manager merry go round will start again. Newcastle will definitely go straight back upI think so, but unfortunately the relegated teams - whoever they are will be quite strong.
There would have been no guarantee of wilder so I think the managerial timing has proved to be correct.I've said before we should have got rid of Warnock in the summer, I said it at the time to be honest.
Anyway, we still pulled the trigger too late. He went after West Brom at the beginning of November but I felt Coventry was the day he should have got his marching orders. 5 points in the first 6 games. We were immediately 8 points behind the top 2, and facing a real struggle to catch up. It got worse of course and now it's getting better, but we gave ourselves a massive hill to climb.
We've been superb but we need to keep this kind of form up for another 4 or 5 games just to be level with those top sides. 13 points in 5 games will probably put us top 2....then we have the 'simple' matter of maintaining that form!! It's one hell of an ask.
But we've got games against Fulham, Bournemouth, Blackburn, QPR and WBA still to come, win all those - particularly Fulham, Bournemouth, and Blackburn, and it may reduce the points we need to make 2nd. EDIT: Yes I know I'm a dreamer...but I'm not the only one!On current form second place will be 87 points. We would need 46 points in the last 20 games to beat that. If we get that we deserve to go up, because that would be phenomenal. We can drop 14 points between now and the end of the season to beat that. Maybe 18 points if West Brom and Blackburn drop off a bit.
So we are talking minimum 13 wins and 3 draw out of 20, but more likely 14 wins and a couple of draws. If we lose 5 games out of 20 there is no chance of making 2nd
True, but they are the ones we are less likely to win....you never know though. My figures were just to give an estimate of the task, if we beat blackburn and beat Bournemouth then we can probably reduce the number of wins needed by 3 instead of 2But we've got games against Fulham, Bournemouth, Blackburn, QPR and WBA still to come, win all those - particularly Fulham, Bournemouth, and Blackburn, and it may reduce the points we need to make 2nd. EDIT: Yes I know I'm a dreamer...but I'm not the only one!
I don't think we'll go up this season.7 points off 2nd with 20 games to go…..
I honestly think there is a real chance we will be going up automatically THIS season. There, I’ve said it. And I’m not even drunk!
I think we are in with a good shout but it’s a free hit for Wilder this year for me. I won’t be too upset if we don’t go up, I’ll be more than happy to just have something to play for going into the last weekend, to be honest.I don't think we'll go up this season.
(I'm not drink either)!
