Attendances - some strange ones

I noticed last week the Spurs v Liverpool game had a crowd of 45k. Noticed yesterday the Brighton and West Ham grounds looked to have loads of spaces.

I wonder if certain clubs that rely on tourists or where people will have gone home for Xmas will see really low crowds the next few weeks.

Complete opposite for us. Bumper crowd of ex pat's giving us a great attendance.

I was surprised seeing those empty seats at Villa and Brighton.

Could be public transport related.

Brighton's ground is very train reliant there's nowhere to park anywhere near it. Its about 5 miles north of Brighton

Some of those places have very bad covid situations. Am thinking London and Brighton. They always suffer a lack of public transport on Boxing Day.

I noticed that there were only 40,539 at Spurs yesterday for the game against Palace. It is a huge outlay for some fans to pay at a time when money is tight. The official capacity of the stadium is 62, 850.

When I worked at the school, I was contacted by Old Trafford regarding taking students to watch Champions League Games, something we did regularly. United used to offer nearly 20,000 school kids the opportunity to go and watch them play for free - we only had to pay £25 for the coach park and obviously the cost of the coach.

I asked the guy how they could afford it and his short reply was the amount of money the school children and youth groups would spend in the club shop and at the kiosks.

There's been a significant change of behaviour in London over the past three weeks or so with the onset and spread of the latest variant. Having travelled north a week ago, I've not noticed quite the same change here. I'm sure many down there won't have fancied piling into a tube train.

It's clearly covid related. London has been brutally hit currently. People are being cautious.

I'm currently at a rugby match were 70000 tickets have been sold. I can't see the crowd being anywhere near that big though.

Cheers mate poor weather but hopefully a good game!

Bit nervous about being in such a large crowd but hopefully it'll a good one. Double header too. The Hampstead Rugby club Derby first as quins women play wasps.
