Mumps on the rise

I'm really sorry for you that you CAN see it to be fair. There is no need for your chip in this case. No need

I'm not coming at this with a chip on my shoulder. You're the chap who brings brexit into everything. I'm the one who didn't vote on the issue. I think it allows me to see it with a little less bias.

I’m loathe to blame people in things like this but I do think Tony Blair didn’t help with his secretive stance towards this.
from the guardian
Tony Blair's reluctance, when prime minister, to say whether his son Leo had had the MMR jab, caused major problems for public health experts trying to convince parents to inoculate infants in the face of the "junk science" warning from Andrew Wakefield of a link to autism, Sir Liam Donaldson has confirmed as he outlined the leadership challenges he faced while chief medical officer.”

I had a couple of parents in the school playground lecture me about how bad it is to get the mmr jab. These people had decent jobs and were by no means stupid people. I just stood there and smiled because didn't want to fall out in a playground. It just shows that it's not just thick people who get their information off Facebook and believe everything they read.

There must be some level of stupidity, or gullibility or whatever. Why would people ignore proven science and risk their kids lives.

Or not comment at all if you're not bothered either way about brexit. Yet you did so here we are.

The overlap or comparison with brexit, climate change, Trump, anti-vax, GM foods, various conspiracy theories, is people being unable to overcome or even aware they are subject to motivated reasoning. This is particularly true of political questions. Normal good sense and reasoning falls victim. We all do it.

Br14. I dont think anyone has called anyone stupid for being concerned about side effects. It's people still believing there is a link to autism which has been proven to be false.

While the MMR vaccine is probably perfectly safe for the vast majority of kids, there are - as with all treatments - side effects. It isn't stupid to be concerned about those side effects. For the record my child had the vaccination - but not until I'd done the research.

MMR Vaccine

"Note that there are some children (and adults) who should not receive the MMR vaccine. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this list includes: anyone who has had a life-threatening reaction to the antibiotic neomycin; anyone who has had a life-threatening reaction to a previous MMR shot; and pregnant women. If your child is sick at the scheduled time to get the MMR shot, your doctor may advise waiting until your child is better. "

it is the very fact that some people can’t have vaccine which makes it so downright irresponsible to spread and heed this anti vaccine garbage. They need to rely on herd immunity, which needs a 95% take up.

For anyone else, the side effects are nowhere near as bad as measles, which is nasty and can be deadly.

it’s a bit like deciding to leave the EU will enable us to treat EU citizens like scum but ignoring the downside of trashing our economy and reputation.

Another Brexit mention in a thread nothing to do with Brexit. Just can’t help it

Anti vaxxing was never a class issue. To be fair to the parents who didn't allow their children the MMR vaccination the irresponsible (as ever) media was full of scare stories instigated by a doctor. We've seen this happen often enough since not to take large sections of the media seriously.

A combination of anti-vaxxers and people coming to this country from places where things like mumps are still rife. See also TB, which was almost eradicated in the UK but number of cases has increased significantly in recent years.

So what you are saying is never question what the Authorities say
just do as you are told..
Strange Logic at best
One should question Everthing one is told
