Multiple deaths in Channel dinghy accident

Appalling, 33 people the latest number.

Not sure what the answer is (although interesting to see Boris blame France and PP mention French waters). There has to be something the U.K. can do differently to help prevent this rather than push the problem onto France as that clearly is not working and innocent people will continue to lose their lives.

It's an absolute disaster but short of sending ferries over then I'm not sure what we can do to get France to pull their fingers out.

RIP, seems brexit is having a big impact on numbers now they know they can't be sent back to other EU countries.

France have to take the bulk of the responsibility I'm afraid. Letting these smugglers conduct these voyages off their coast without the slightest of checks or heed for migrant safety.

As far as I am aware this kind of thing doesn't happen the other way around from the UK to France.

We could have an asylum application centre on mainland Europe and then safely transfer our fair share of refugees by ferry. Many European countries already accept far more than we do so it's only fair that we pull our weight. After all we probably do more than most to create refugees.
Unfortunately it doesn't fit this Torys divisive racist government.......

Why would you indeed… unless you were desperate 🤔

we need to answer why they’re desperate to leave their countries…

and the west is a big part of the problem…
It was a genuine question. They are in France. France is safe and secure - why would you want to set sail in a rubber dinghy to get here?

We blame France. Yet France will not be their 1st safe haven either. France also accept far more migrants than we do.

If we were serious, we could offer safe passage and process claims in an efficient and timely manner (I understand the majority would be found to be legally entitled to stay here).

However, as keelo quite rightly states, this doesn't fit the narrative of this government, or those whose votes enable them.
