My word - what a wonderful place.
The natural beauty really is breathtaking.
Climate is fascinating too- rain, sleet, snow and clear blue skies all in the space of an hour.
Fingers crossed for northern lights tomorrow night

Pleasantly surprised with prices too. Maybe I’d been led to expect the worst.
A pint for a fiver
Decent bottle of red in a good restaurant £40

Have a lovely weekend

Very happy to read that, have a little trip with the Mrs booked for a few weeks time.

Have u been for a dip yet in one of those natural pools? I’d definitely recommend going to Myvatn which is supposed to be one of the most natural.

You're lucky to be there when the Imagine Peace Tower is lit, well worth going across to get under the beam, feels like it's coming down from the sky

My daughter went wild camping there for 3 weeks with the British exploring society, said it was out of this world

Have you been or are you going to Gullfoss Falls?

When we visited Black Sands Beach (I think that's its name), there was a topless model doing a calendar shoot. Any other time I would have been hoggling at her but it must have been the coldest day I have ever experienced. My only thought was ' whatever they are paying you, they are not paying you enough.'

Yes, done the falls - just amazing
Blue Lagoon today
Off south tomorrow

Its chuffin freezin btw

If you're back in Reykjavik, the basement bar of Stofan (aka Cafe Rosenberg) is pretty cool. Craft beers. Cozy.

Just looking to book Iceland for early January, it’s been on the list for years. Might be one of the few destinations in Europe that isn’t in lockdown by then

Her indoors was there two weeks ago. Did the Blue Lagoon and the Northern lights. Amazing but bloody expensive.

Got back from Iceland a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely loved it, closest you will get to another planet and the locals are crazy!! £5 a pint???

My visits there were while working on ships, so not the best barometer to judge. Rekjarvik was just plain weird. Was there on a bright midsummers day, but felt bleak and soulless to the point where even the statues looked depressed and resigned to their fate. Had a couple of very nice local beers, but in empty bars where the only sound was the loud ticking of clocks that seemed to be heralding your inevitable death! Also did Akurari (sp) in the north, which was a lovely little place who's airstrip was longer than the main Street! £30 quid for lunch, but damn it was good!
