He doesn't care - he's never accepted responsibility for it.Clusterfuck Johnson must be wondering what he's done to deserve all this.

Only 2 countries have unelected religious clerics as part of their state legislature, Iran & ... ?The Iranian regime is a nasty theocracy
Have we had an influx of people who have recently watched the film Argo? If she was holed up in some embassy on Hyde Park then I maybe I could understand the “send in the SAS” mantra. Sadly she isn’t.For all of this goverment's posturing on how great Great Britain is, national pride etc it seems strange it seems to quite meekly accept one of its own citizen's being detained illegally for years on end.
I'm with Randy, break her out. F em.
Willing to bet if it was a member of the government or one of their family in this situation it'd be handled very differently.
Are you saying you want the UK to go to war with Iran? The British government have let this young woman down. She is not being held by terrorists but by a state and the minimum we should be doing is some military posturing, if only we had some military left of course.
What's the point of any pride in being British when, internationally there are no benefits. We pay taxes for, amongst other things, some level of protection and this woman has been given none. We sailed half way round the world to protect the Falklands and do nothing when one of our citizens is sent to jail by a kangaroo court.
No I am saying we should be rattling our sabre and demanding she be released. If that means paying what we owe so be it.Are you saying you want the UK to go to war with Iran?
I'm not sure that rattling our sabre will do much to be honest. They laughed in the face of the USA, so not sure what our dwindling and overstretched military can do. There is no level of diplomacy with the Iranian government - an Islamic Republic who murder their own citizens for being homosexual, or indefinitely incarcerating women for refusing to wear a head scarf. This is a very different situation to the Falklands. No I am saying we should be rattling our sabre and demanding she be released. If that means paying what we owe so be it.
As far as I am aware no independent investigation has been done, well let me short circuit this paragraph, nothing has been done to secure the womans release.
Do the independent investigation, if Iran refuse us access, go to war. How many Uk citizens have to be incarcerated before war is the right thing, 1, 2, 2,300, the population of the falklands.
Once you allow a foreign power to incarcerate your citizens as a bargaining chip, you are done.
The many westerners versus one is my point. It shouldn't make any difference. The fact that we are doing absoloutely nothing and leaving this woman to rot communicates 2 things. Firstly Iran can do what they like to british citizens in Iran with impunity and as a nation we don;t really care about our citizens.I'm not sure that rattling our sabre will do much to be honest. They laughed in the face of the USA, so not sure what our dwindling and overstretched military can do. I do agree that something needs to be done though, but would need international pressure and be in response to the many westerners who are in prison, not just a sole UK citizen. Unfortunately the international powers aren't interested.
I agree Bear, sometimes it's the only solution though. Well not the only solution, Johnson can ignore the problem and hope it goes away.THE USA managed to get money to Iran in Obama's time, we should have paid our dues then.
No excuse for Iranian . . . or UK . . . behaviour, but diplomacy is the only solution to most of the world's problems as, even if we had the military forces, you can rarely win peace with war.
It just goes on and on, I could cry. All those years they can't get back and it's not even over yet

Mrs Mitchell went to visit Richard Ratcliffe on his hunger strike yesterday. It's all a very sad situation when peoples lives are destroyed by political posturing like this. Pay up, let her go home, there is a 7 year old child with no memories of her mum, that's horrible. There is a man whose had his life with his wife stolen from him, and no one in power has done a thing about it.David Mitchell's take on it https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/nov/07/its-liz-truss-moment-to-do-the-right-thing
