Adverts Update

After running this experiment with adverts for a couple of weeks or so I can now see that the present set up is not really working - income wise - so I need to rethink the advert placements again.
Obviously I will endeavour to not make them intrusive - as always there will be no pop-ups or pop-unders but the rate or remuneration is very low at present. Am going to have to scratch my head and other peoples to see how we work it up. It is a fraction of the old board and that would mean it would probably cost money to run..
Once again I thank people for not using ad blockers, particularly not on phones or to be honest this whole new board would have to be scrapped. It would start to cost money to operate.
But this is why we are operating two boards side by side to monitor lots of things and work out how to optimise everything for the best all round.

Great to get some feedback. Whatever the news.

Actually - hold the front page and the ad page - the read outs weren't actually working properly. They have just updated with different results. I need to go back and re-assess. I could well be totally wrong. Hmmm
Bizarre.

Whats the current ratio of users between the sites? not as many on this side compared to the other side will be having an impact? it might correct itself once everyone moves over?

I see my mistake. I need some more info to make a direct comparison - but I do think I might have been right first time. Hmmm

Can’t understand why it would be less effective on this page compared to the old one as you have similar space available if not more? Surely it’s down to this site getting less visitor traffic due to only a subset of users and anyone who isn’t invited doesn’t know to read here, for example search engine traffic

Google ads are automated on old site - with certain controls put on. When trying that on here they went a bit wild and covered up everything. Need to bet the balance between the set placements for adverts allowed with this software and google ads. And still too soon to see whether there is a big swing towards mobile useage as yet. That is the aim after all.

I use Firefox with Ad Block Plus on my laptop. Whitelisted the site ages ago on the PC so seeing all of the adverts fine. However on my phone the ads do not display even though the site is whitelisted. Using the Ad Block Plus browser. Will upload a photo for you in a minute or two.

Rob, you can install some code that will get round ad blockers and get people to disable them to continue
I've recently come across a couple of sites with a 1-click whitelist button which makes it much easier to whitelist. Don't have to fiddle with menus

Hi Rob, I hope this one is not what we end up with. As they are so intrusive that I think most people would not bother coming here. Or they would employ an adblocker.

Posting this from a tiny part of the screen I can see that isn't covered with adverts - if they stay like this then you've got no chance of people moving across.

It actually looks like server issue - we turned off something called google auto ads but it looks to me like they are showing again.
They also started at same time on new Blackpool site avftt.co.uk
Will investigate.
