This game on Saturday means a lot to me.

I’m a southerner by birth. From Cambridgeshire not far from Peterborough, moved to Teesside to study, when my degree finished I stayed in the North East and lived in the area for a decade. Happy days. That’s how I became a Boro fan. Went to Ayresome park with a mate for a game one weekend and could see what the club meant to the area.

Members of my family are Posh fans, I’ve got several mates who are too. In normal times I go watch them a fair bit as a second team. In fact I actually went to their last game with fans before lockdown in March 2020. Unlike Boro i’ve seen them win at Wembley (3 times). And the first game of football I ever went to was the league cup quarter final in 1991-2. Albeit in the home end with my brother and dad.

So am looking forward to Saturday. My first game for two years and one of the first weekends I’ve been able to do anything since being ill. I’ll be there with one of my Posh supporting mates. Because I’m such a good bloke I’ve agreed to sit in the away end with him so I’ll be sat on my hands and keeping extremely quiet. Seemed a bit silly to drive up together and sit in two different stands.

Posh have been utterly hopeless away from home so far this season. I’m hoping for a scrappy home win but fear it will be typical Boro…

UTB!!!

Enjoy AET, as I've mentioned a few times I work in Peterborough and would have been going but for a) was supposed to be holiday and b) the Mrs and the young testing positive for Covid.

Hopefully a good game and a kick start to an improvement in your health. I will be at the return game in April and enjoying a cheeky pint on the boat.

I would have been 4 yrs old then !! Considering we were in the first division at the time and posh had just been promoted to the third division that doesn’t seem like a great result to me !!!

Didn't realise we were in the same division. Another away game I can get to. (y)
My last game was Brentford v Boro. Was it Feb or march 20? I was otherwise engaged for the two games in London so far. Desperately hoping that Luton doesn't sell out to the loyalty cards.

Was it posh we played when Ripley smashed in that cracking goal under Lennie in the league cup qf? Vaguely remember it being a terrible game.

Yep.
It was the replay to the game I mentioned. Had to be rearranged as the first date got called off at the last minute iirc frozen pitch or summat

You got off lucky.
I’d just left school and was working in Peterborough, one of the lads I worked with went to every posh game, took the day off to travel up on the away coach, got to the services on the A19 to be told the game was off……

My one and only visit to Peterborough was for the League Cup QF in January 1992. It was freezing and we drew 0-0 but went on to win the replay of course.

That song their fans sing "Bara, Peterbara" 🤣

That was also my first away FAC match Erimus as an 11 year old, my sister lived in Peterborough at the time. I know you collect memorabilia and if you’re interested I have a match programme and a copy of the Peterborough evening news from the day that my late dad kept, not in brilliant condition after 46 years but you’re welcome to have them.
