Flying back from Majorca to Newcastle next Wednesday. Any recommendations or advice regarding PCR day 2 test. Live in Stainton if that helps. Thank you.

There’s another thread about this this morning. See this link
It will give you all the info you need to know.

Sorry hadn't seen that but thanks for your reply.

Hi Eddie we are coming over for a cycling break in a couple of weeks. What’s the mask policy indoors in bars in Mallorca? Staying in Puerto Pollenca.

If you have the option to take antigen take that instead of the PCR. It's cheaper and unfortunately may turn out to be more accurate, they are looking into suspicious negative PCR tests in the South West at the moment, there may be a considerable amount of them.
My own experience of PCR test for day 2 was arriving back at Exeter Airport from Spain, walking into the testing marquee just outside of the terminal and then waiting at least 3 days for the results which I had to chase up.

I really believe these 2 day tests are a rip off. Basically you are paying for a code to put on your passenger locator form. A few months ago Boots lost my 2 day test despite postal tracking proving they received it.

Shapps is apparently scrapping them from half term hols in favour of test at home Antigens. Why he cant do it now I don't know.

It is bizarre isn't it? As far as I know, you aren't actually penalised for not taking the day 2, only if you cannot prove you've paid for it! (This government's priorities laid bare)

Antigen versus PCR is only a consideration for overseas testing I believe (the test you previously needed to take prior to entering the UK?) I believe this requirement has now been completely removed.

LFR tests are being considered but I'm sure I read the other day that they're potentially rolling back on the idea - spun as limiting genetic sequencing ability but probably down to potential lost revenue.

We are definitely in a minority of countries currently requiring a post-arrival test for double vaccinated people.

There’s a site in Darlington behind Morrison’s that do them.

that’s where I’m going for my pre and post checks

Randox for day 2, spot on. Results back next day.
They lost my sons girlfriends test. Still hasnt had a result weeks after getting back. They are cheap and as has been said your only really paying for the code for the PLF.

You don’t have an option to take an antigen test. The law, and your passenger locator form and therefore ability to travel, still requires PCR.

I used C19, they provide return paid envelope. It cost £59. They also received good reviews on Which.
No complaints from me.

Thought you need to book your day 2 return test before you go, so that you have booking ref num for UK passenger locator form which you have to fill in 48 hrs before you land in UK
Have used Randx and dropped of on Longlands, spot on for £43

No you don’t need to do it before you go (I’ve been here six weeks and the rules have never stayed the same for that long anyway!). But you’re right you need to order the test online and use the reference number on the locator form before you come back, we just did it all from here online.

Hint! If you use Randox (don’t know about others) the reference number you need is in the body of the text, not the number in the title of the email or header, which means nothing to anyone and your locator form will spit it out.

It's the code beginning with RANDX....the forms are quite thorough so do them sober 😂
