Newcastle takeover .

Not much has been written about the Reuben brothers, buying up large swathes of Newcastle for re-development and new build offices. They now have seats on the board at a football club with a stadium on prime city centre land...

They also own the Sunderland dog track, which could be NUFC's new home after the relocation of the Riyadh Red and White Stripes. (You heard it here first).

It'll be yet another sad day for football in this country when that takeover goes through.
I've supported boro since 1967 a 1 0 win over millwall I think.
We have never been the best team for winning stuff but over the years we could beat anyone on our day.
Until now.
I wouldnt watch f1 if half the drivers were in morris minors.
Might as well watch thornaby and save some money.
If warnock would play more young lads like malley and jones maybe they'd get me back at the riverside.
They dont come and see me when I'm bad !

Apologies for my ramble.
The Newcastle takeover is about too much money spoiling the game.
They will be one of the teams like man city who we can no longer compete with.
What's the point of supporting boro, it's not exactly cheap to attend, if on our day we have no hope of beating the rich clubs.?

The European super league doesn't sound so bad when you put it like that. Get the mega rich clubs out of our game and don't let them back, and bring in salary caps for those that are left.

I actually think the super league will happen sooner or later. They'll keep bringing the idea of it back now and then - until opposition to it gradually becomes apathetic.

For every negative, theres a positive

Don't let them back is the key, but they want a 'cake and eat it' approach. They've realised that a no-relegation global superleague doesn't have quite the same fan appeal if your team ends up a supranational Burnley, a permanent mid-table mediocrity.

I'm obviously no fan of NUFC, but i feel if it was a London / South East club, the Saudi element may not be as 'bad' - but a Northern Club getting major investment and the Saudi issue is way more of a problem... double standards, London has been very happy with Saudi money over the years

They have no place in civilised society.
To accept them into our society is to condone their barbaric ways.
It's an absolute disgrace and all in the name of greed.

point 8: No other Religion is tolerated or allowed. At least in the UAE, Christanity and Hindu temples are allowed, though crucifixes are banned in public places as are statues of people.

I can see plenty of crowd surf banners being prepared - Jamal Khashoggi portrait possibly?
Bonesaw banners.

Why not, fans still have power and a massive voice. We’re part of the product. And these autocratic states would hate that, appearing on TV highlights with their new football club plaything - fine if you can ban dissent in your own country but if you’re going to play in a market where people have freedom of expression, they’re going to express it.

I do like the idea of protest banners and I hope they pop up. These places are corrupting our game by sportswashing their reputations with our brands, but it would be a nightmare for their “brand” if every NUFC game had away fans with banners pointing out the many, many misdemeanours of the Saudi state.
