Yet another right wing radio host dies of Covid

Bob Enyart, a rightwing talk radio host in Colorado who urged people to boycott vaccines for Covid-19, has died of Covid-19.

This seems to be developing into quite a trend.

This guy sounds like a real charmer - in what some might see as supreme irony:

According to a 1999 profile by Westword, Enyart "gleefully read obituaries of Aids sufferers while cranking Another One Bites the Dust by Queen".

What a lovely chap.....

"Enyart angered families of AIDS victims when he read a man's obituary on his television show, Bob Enyart Live, calling the deceased a sodomite.[5] A regular feature of the show involved reading obituaries of AIDS sufferers while playing "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen, whose lead singer, Freddie Mercury, died in 1991 from complications from AIDS"

And

"Enyart was a proponent of corporal punishment of children.[7] He served a 60-day jail sentence after being convicted of child abuse for hitting a 7-year-old boy with a belt so violently that he raised welts and broke the skin of the child"

There was an interesting article looking at the right wing politicians, tv & radio presenters leading the polemic against masks, vaccinations and Covid restrictions in the US and the majority are vaccinated including Trump, Ron deSantis, Tucker Carlson, as are their wives/husbands.

The exception was the right wing shock jock who have collectively drank the Kool-Aid and not realised that turning it into a hot button issue is purely about energising the base and highlighting the difference between the state control democrats & the freedom loving republicans. They also tend to come from a demographic that is high risk to suffering the worst complications.

The shock jock is caught in a perfect storm of their own making.

I can never understand a normal person who looks at two sides of a debate where on one side you’ve got scientists and public health experts who have committed their lives to trying to save life and improve lives of everyone through medicine and vaccination, and on the other side are a bunch of (often) far right, dishonest click bait shock jocks, conspiracy theorists, social media con-artists, publicity hungry celebrities and fringe scientists, and then go -
‘yeah, I think that side is the one to listen to. They’ve definitely got my best interests at heart’.

Came here to say this before seeing you'd already covered it. The Fox News TV hosts have all been quietly vaccinated (something a lot of their fans are struggling to understand or believe) but the podcast/radio hosts lower down the food chain are the ones who are actually following their own advice, and consequently they're the ones dying.

It's an interesting, if not wholly baffling situation that exists in the US within the Republican and Far Right circles. You do have the outright loons such as this bloke, Taylor Greene, Bobaert and the like and then you have the likes of McCarthy and deSantis who are generally intelligent individuals who have realised that the only way they can win is to appeal to the loons as well as traditional Republican voters.
deSantis was at an anti-mask mandate rally trying to tap into the American lust for freedom and he handed the mic to a nutter who started talking about the vaccines modifying your DNA. You could see the look of incredulity on his face, but he didn't correct him because he knew he'd lose support if he did.
That's why they are all getting vaccinated on the quiet, they know what is right, but they also know that their political future relies on them balancing that with the support of the voters that Trump unearthed and emboldened.
It's why I've always hated Trump, he's borderline supervillain nevemind sociopathic and he'd happily see the world burn.

Gaviñ Newsom wins recall vote in California on "Say yes to science say yes to vaccines " policy Don't turn California into Florida.
Hopefully this will continue into the midterms next year across the USA and the right wing lunatic faction in the republican party will get routed

I think a lot of female voters will be motivated into making sure their voices are heard in forthcoming elections. The actions of the states of Texas and, down the line, Mississippi, in relation to abortion laws show just what can happen if you elect a Republican legislature.

Anyone who seriously thinks the vaccine will modify their DNA should welcome the opportunity.
