Yup I agree about the general malaise in the electorate but you suddenly start to take an interest in the economy when your weekly shop goes up by 20%. It was 10p snacks going up to 15p that sparked my interest in politics.
What? It was 3p last time I bought one.I can get behind that. Curly Wurly 25p these days. Unbelievable!
Its just one poll - could be an outlier or could be the start of a trend, we will only know when we see a bunch of other polls
But I agree with some of the above - this is about Tory disaffection not labour becoming popular. This is a worry for labour.
Starmer hasn't ruled this out either. I suspect he will want to know which way the wind is blowing closer to the time.I think if Labour could promise to introduce PR then things couls become very interesting
The Conservatives were reasonably comfortable that their losses weren't going to Labour. This poll turns that notion on its head.
You're very naive if you think that's how government works. Is it some kind of bait and switch? They say NI increase until Starmer responds with some sort of commitment to a wealth/property tax. Then in two weeks they say "actually we'll just pay for the social care bill through 0% borrowing, Labour are the tax party!"
You're very naive if you think that's how government works.
What, take two years to announce a policy. Win over the back benchers, put it to a vote in Parliament, send out Minister after Minister to defend the policy then change their minds.Eh? They do that quite regularly tbh Fur.
The sadest part of these polls shows exactly the mindset of your average tory, they don't care about the cronyism , the racism the incompance thats led to thousands of unnecessary deaths etc , but as soon they are asked to pay a little bit more towards something like health care they are up in arms . I don't agree with the way the tories are rasing taxes but there's no getting away from it we need to properly fund SC.
