Yes it’s early days and he’s bound to be rusty, but i was impressed with how he did last night.

nice link up got stuck in and played in the front foot with his head up ( always with his head up).

I was pleasantly surprised with his reaction to loosing the ball, he was trying to win it back straight away I didn’t think he was like that. Hopefully keeps it up and gets better

His stats are very impressive in terms of number of touches and passing accuracy. Needs to provide a better link to forwards; hopefully that will come as he learns our style of play.

He was busy, always looking for the ball and looking for openings to pass forwards. He came a little too deep at times for my liking, but it was a decent debut and better than I expected. I too was impressed about how he went to retrieve the ball when he lost possession. Promising (y)

I thought he did ok considering the horror stories I had heard about his attitude but I was especially impressed with his tracking back and winning the ball back on a few occasions. I did think that overall he was too safe and played mostly backwards. He's not as forward thinking as I was expecting or at least he wasn't last night. Some of that can be attributed to rustiness and the fact that we were playing with 4 CMs, had nobody out wide and very little movement ahead of him.

If he shows the right attitude in training then for me he should be ahead of Brit v Luton

I can’t see no reason why he wouldn’t be starting again, I’d play him just off Fletcher and instruct him not to come too deep too often

Agree with most you can tell he is a 'footballer' Maddo picked up on him coming too deep. He would of been great against the 10 men we needed someone to find the space which we never did.

Would love to see him and Roberts in the team together behind Britt or fletch

Would love to see him further up the field.

Maybe drop Britt, and push him further up to play off Fletcher.

3-5-1-1 on Sat would be my prefered formation - with wing backs - Coulson & Spence.

100 percent that should be the formation, with Tav in midfield rather than McNair for me.

Reading this thread shows one thing though that we do have options now.
Shame Roberts is injured though

I'd drop Britt for Tav and push Morrison further forward. I think wing backs should be done for us now, it hasn't been working for a while, we can finally go back to a back 4, just didn't think Woodgate would go with the formation he did last night with 2 up top. Needs to be 451 or 433.

We don't have enough options though. We have a lot of players that play in 2 positions, CM or ST and not really anything else. We were very narrow last night. To have any sort of shape we have to play wing backs and that means Coulson and Spence playing 100% of the time which Woodgate doesn't seem to want to do. None of the CMs or STs are wide players and struggle when out there. Neither of them can get forward as much as we need if playing in a back 4.

I'd play 5212 with Wing, Saville, Clayton or McNair being the 2 and Morrison or Tav further forward as the 1. Then Fletcher and one other from Brit, Rudy & Nmecha. I think he probably suits playing alongside Gestede the most but that means playing Gestede.

Once (if) Roberts comes back we can rethink.

Fair chance Britt will score 6-8 goals by then end of the season . If we actually want to sell he’s better off player as well . We coukd have three players in double figure come April , I’m not sure when we last had that and when was the last time one had so many outside the box like wing ?

I too am struggling with the notion of dropping a CF (no matter how out of form) for another midfielder against a struggling side at home that we need to be beating. Also, fletcher really struggles up on his own.
