Interesting comments from the gaffer?

When asked about Burnley’s apparent interest in buying Tav by BBC Tees, he said “Tav knows he’ll not be going until next season, same with Dael and same with Paddy.” I might be reading too much into it of course but that sort of sounds like sh*t or bust in terms of promotion this season. Or maybe he’s just told them to play well and make the sure the interested clubs come back for them next summer.

I thought it was quite an interesting snippet. And he also seemed a bit p*ssed off with what’s happened with Van Bergen.

I think that's probably a fair and honest assessment of what will happen if we don't get promoted this season, Tav and Fry will want to play in the Premier League and they clearly have drew interest from some teams this summer and last. There's only so long we can hang on to them and I don't think we should expect them to hang around while we battle for mid-table/play-offs.

I'd probably take the money if we can get it for Fry. Tav I think is a real prospect and could do a good job for a lower half PL team; I'd try and keep him as long as possible.

I think the nature of the club has changed somewhat over the last decade or so and I think SG will be happy to cash in on players coming through where he can.

Unless there’s someone lined up to use that money on immediately then there’s no point as the players could potentially earn us far more money with promotion than any transfer fee just sitting in the bank.
it’s no good being ”a bit p***ed“ off with a transfer situation if the player you’ve been courting looks elsewhere because you’ve suggested he might not get a game at a 2nd division club.

Warnock won’t be here next season so will be just focused on what he knows and Hel knkw Hel have their commitment this season . Next season wel probably have to sell someone and if it’s a good figure it’s not the end of the world but promotion would give us the option atleast to keep them all or attract better potentially

Every club is a selling club , it’s healthy . Main thing is always maintained that production line the best we can . Hopefully the new DOF will assist on that

I too heard that line but I don't think it means we're selling next season as well.

I think he means, we won't entertain any offers for those 3 now - unless it's crazy money.

How many times have we sold a valued player, then bought a cheaper better replacement immediately afterwards? I can only really think of Joe Bennett/George Friend.

Steve Gibson wants to see his team playing at the highest level possible. Selling our better players is not going to achieve that.

Something internal to the club? He made a point of bigging up Karen Nelson and he also held up his hands regarding the Rodrigo Muniz deal saying he took too long to make up his mind.

Could it be someone blabbed a bit too soon?

I seem to remember that at the beginning of the summer he said they would be playing in the PL one way or another after this season. Fair enough, should bring in plenty of cash
